If there's nobody online, then join a server and play. I'm sure someone else will show up in about 5-15 min depending on the time of day. Me an some other developers did that last night and within an hour we had a 12 person game going.
The gun isn't supposed to be fully sketched. It's just there to have the post make sense.
We have major bot problems if the forums are visible without registration. I'm trying to get at least the news and tech support sections visible, but our web guy is MIA.

Actually, the gun position moves around as you look around, so it won't always be hidden by the hud.
Well, if you want to get right down to it, the engine was used for Emperor: Battle for Dune which was released in 2001. Renegade was initially slated for release in 1999/2000 so the engine was at least around in 1998.
Remember the engine that is used for c&c3, ra3, and soon c&c4 are all based on the w3d engine, so it's not like its been put away or anything.
It's been less than 10 years, ren was released in 2002 and it's only 2009 :P

Orca/Apache won't be done for the first release, we're doing ground vehicles only to start off.
This mod IS dead. I stopped working on it over a year ago because I have more important projects that I'm working on.

I completely agree, if it wasn't for Dead before dawn, then renegade-x team would be getting a torque engine license, and I can assure you that we would be doing something with it! I can't possibly imagine what some mappers are going to do with a game engine! What are mappers going to do with books on 3d design and animation? It seems that many of these prizes are going to waste when most real mods would greatly benifit from them.
I've lost much of my respect for the moty awards and moddb in general. Shouldn't Dead before dawn be listed as an addon anyway? Like every other freaking map pack.
The prizes are aimed at game developers, not mappers. What is a map "team" going to use a game engine for?

Dead Before dawn shouldn't be on there. Sure it's a good addon for L4D, but it doesn't modify anything whatsoever! It shouldn't be classified as a mod, it's a map pack!
