I believe it needs EP2 as the base engine.
Check the forums for the fix or redownload, the zip should be fixed.
Make sure you have Source SDK 2006 installed and updated, I had the same issue when testing the release.

Gold has at least 3 sets of spawn points per side which fluidly move depending on the state of the map. You never have to walk far.
Just so happens our next update is going into great deal on this. It was supposed to be posted a while back but real life has taken a grip on the team.
Quite a lot, aside from the additional Commonwealth weapons and models;
1) Much more methodical gameplay, weapons are more lethal requiring teamwork to survive
2) Objectives are sensible and often require you to hold an area for a good 20s, rather than just running through an inanimate object to insta-cap
3) Working with team mates gives you all bonus features
4) A lot of the maps are based on real scenarios, featuring real layouts of places that actually existed as well as featuring the same objectives
5) It's a lot more tactical, multiple options to each objective and virtually any position can be outflanked.
6) Bullet damage fades over distance, no more being "headshotted" at 1km with a 9mm pistol round.
7) Much much more!
Voice commands are available for all nations in their native tongues. The text strings are localised for your country however so its just foreign audio you will hear.
No English commands with a German/Polish accent here.

What more realism do you want? If you want a WW2 realism-sim, RnL is more up your street.

Sure did, bullets penetrate various distances depending on bullet size and material density.
No, just click to fire. No point manually working the bolt, this is not a realism mod.

Theres no such thing as the perfect game. Everyone has different tastes.
If it comes down the smocks and coats that differentiate us to "every other ww2 game" then I think we've missed the mark by a milestone and have bigger priorities than inconsequential cosmetic details that can be added later.
Other kit and uniform variations will come in time. It's purely down to the time needed to weight/UV new combo's that has put them on the back burner for now.
I'm sure you'd rather have the game sooner than us spend an extra month knocking out kit variations.
Care to elaborate? The low res looking kit was an error with the normal map VTF flags distorting the diffuse texture. It's been fixed now.
In some of the maps the objectives are identical to the original mission from the war.
They're models, about 3 years old too so could be better!

Yep, you can turn the overhead icons off as well.
It has no skin, just a solid colour skin at the moment.
You'll find out how terribly inaccurate the CoD map is when you play this one. This is based off hundreds of reference images, videos, people going there, original ww2 documentation and reference models.
Everything in the map was there and is accurate position wise to within 10ft.
