Ah... Well, I haven't done much, so there's not much to say. I've dabbled in modding for a looong time, doing games like Oblivion and Morrowind and a few others. I hope to make a game sometime (soon), and so right now I'm hard at work doing that.
Your artwork is just incredible. I love the lighting especially.
I like this!
Wow, this is really impressive for the free version of Unity! Good job, guys!
Your concept art looks absolutely fantastic. Any chance for 1080 wallpaper size?
This looks pretty darn cool! I like.
These are really cool!
*sigh* This is why I don't like it when people do 'hints' and stuff. I lose interest, instead of the other way around. TELL ME what you're doing, and I'll decide if I'm interested. Basically telling me you're not telling, makes me shrug and move on.
Indeed! I love the gorgeous art style of this. Unreal Engine is doing a great job here.
This is absolutely fantastic work! I love the interior design of the factory. Maybe one day you guys can compile a 'lore' book or somesuch. If you ever bought Total Annihilation: Kingdoms in the box, that manual is what I'm thinking of.
That's pretty fantastic looking! I like the design with the gunboxes being able to move to one side or the other.
The problem with Babylon 5 in general was, what WASN'T overpowered?
Not that that's a bad thing. :P But seriously, like everything was OP at one point. Except I think the Narns. They always got a bad rap.
OH MA GAWD UPDATES! I am so happy right now. ^_^
Please make this wallpaper sized.
I personally do not really get why he would say Skyrim is annoying but UDK is not...
It is difficult to give an opinion on a single piece without relation to the idea of the whole, however, from the concept art, the red seems to pop out quite a bit more in the texture. It does look good, but without seeing it in a scene I think it would look better with darker bricks.
Looking forward to seeing more! :)
Wow, that is SPECTACULAR artwork.
An ARPG in space, tracking! Would love to see some alpha gameplay though!
That's some fantastic work there!
Wait, so you're making space battles with C&C Generals?
It looks like part of Babylon 5! o.O
These are nothing short of FANTASTIC.
Wait... You imply there's a DIFFERENT way?
Just out of curiosity, you couldn't have a dedicated server tool and a direct connect option in the game? That way you can have multiplayer, and don't have to worry about hosting a master server. Obviously, it wouldn't be adhoc game friendly, but it would leave it still an option.
While the overall model/texture looks cool, I wouldn't necessarily say the mouth looks more terrifying. It's definitely creepy, but it also looks like it's lost a purpose.
To specify, the previous mouth looked like it could eat you, bite chunks off of you. This mouth just looks like it can breathe on you.
Those graphics are fantastic! Hard to believe it's Blender Game Engine, congrats on the hard work, it's certainly paying off.
Well I tried the demo and it's definitely pretty fun, however, it really needs checkpoints. It's very frustrating having 3 or 4 difficult obstacles and then failing on the 4th and having to go through all the rest again. Not sure if they're there and I'm doing it wrong or what. :(
Demo, hurray! I'll definitely give it a try, it's always looked really interesting.
It's good that you put that in-game comparison, because to be honest it *does* look a little clunky close-up, but frankly with the in-game perspective it's brilliant. I applaud you sir!
Wow, that is pretty darn cool! I would have never have thought of doing it like that. :) Great results too.
Wow, your art is absolutely fantastic. I'll have to try out your alpha and see what it's like in-game!
Looks good though, can't wait to see the textures!
All of the models are looking quite good.
Tracking! Really high quality work there.
That's an interesting choice, guess I didn't need to spend that $99 (which was still a good deal) way back when. I assume with engines like Unity3D and Unreal Development Kit freely available, Garage Games didn't have a lot of choice. This one has a better license though!
Cool! I may have to look into that then. :) Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Are you guys using Unity Pro or Free?
That's interesting, you can make Unity recognize custom formats? I did not know this. Also, congratulations on the happy news! Have a good honeymoon. :)
I would agree too. There are lots of other interesting ways to display that information, and ironically in some ways (Spirit, Arcane Energy, etc...) even Diablo has moved away from the same exact format.
I really like this game, I just wish it didn't have that laggy stuttering feeling when you zoom the camera out. Makes it unplayable for me.
When there's a demo I'll definitely give a try, sadly demo isn't live yet. :(
I don't suppose there'll be larger ships, frigate/corvette/destroyer size? It'd be cool to be able to have a large hulking multiple independent turret ship bear down. It'd have to be balanced properly of course, but definitely would be awesome to see. :)
Also as you're using Unity, there's no possibility you managed to snatch up the free Android licenses when they were tossed around? Would be great to play on my Kindle Fire.
Anyone else feel stupid for watching the entire video? *facepalm*
... A white plastic bag?
Those games are boring compared to yours? That's a bit of a statement. :P
Unfortunately not going to be anywhere near Germany on those dates. :(
Good luck though!
I don't see anything about graphics capabilities, but at least in CPU the Kindle is a bit above the gt-i9000, so I should be fine if that's what you benchmark with. :)
Armoured bear thing with a scissor (... Well I assume it's 'a scissor' since it's not the whole thing) for a weapon? I am DOWN.
Also, what android phone are you using to test? I have a Kindle, so is your phone above or below its specs?
I mean no offense, but if you really are 16 and American (You could be an immigrant for all I know though! But regardless, if you're going to use English as your language to share with ModDB), and you're going to make this mod public, you should really really invest more time into grammar and presentation of your news posts.
If you've ever wondered what it would look like if Pikachu and Kirby had a baby... Well, that's what it looks like to me!
Interesting game idea.
I'm just curious, of all the examples you could have made to show off the new script possibilities, what made you come up with lightning bolts from his eyes?
Did you just suddenly turn around and shout to your team members "HEY. What if... Bunnies shot lightning bolts from their eyes?"
Whatever it was, it was sheer brilliance. I busted up laughing, you guys always manage to do the unexpected and that's amazing for having 170 videos.
The point of my comment was that nothing about the media of the game made me want to buy it, or even TRY it in the first place. If he's confused about sales, that's -exactly- where he needs to start. What about his game isn't enticing people to even want to try it, never mind purchase it?
If you disagree with me, go ahead, but I think it's a completely valid point.
I'll be honest with you. First of all, I have not purchased/played the game, nor even tried the demo. The media for it (screenshots and trailers) show me a really disjointed art style that's overall not really appealing (LOTS of bloom/HDR and solid-colour texturing in many areas), and the weapons don't look like they have much weight or feeling to them between the animations and sound (especially the gun that shoots the blue laser things). On the art style, you don't have to have super-realistic graphics, or even close to, obviously lots of games have gotten away without them. But if you do that you need to have a cohesive stylistic flair of some kind which I don't feel the game has.
Of course art is not necessarily a deal breaker. You've also got gameplay and story. For gameplay, your description (in the ModDB profile) is not really heartening. There's no mechanic the game is built around that sets it apart or anything.
Both of those together aren't necessarily deal breakers either! As I said, there's still story. But... "You're forced to do tests for an unknown robotic mastermind. As you go through the tests, you slowly unravel the story through log files of previous test subjects." also does not inspire confidence in the storytelling abilities of this game.
I applaud your efforts, that you got a project finished (much more than I've done!), got it published, and indeed sold copies. However for me personally I don't see a particular reason I would want to play (or especially purchase) this game. Not for the art, the gameplay, or story.
Also, for anyone who has ever used the NeoAxis engine, the demos really, really show in your game (which you even stated).
I know it may be harsh, and I don't want to be mean, but the header on this post makes it sound like you're confused as to why this hasn't sold very well, and these are just my thoughts. I hope they help you your efforts later down the road!
Ooh, this is very nice. I've been super busy lately and haven't been able to touch modding Starfare (Blame UDK and Skyrim!) but this might get me to dabble a bit more.
Having not played Call of Duty in a couple of years, the explanation is rather lost on me so I guess I'll have to wait to find out what the music is like.
On that note though, it makes me try and remember games I have played like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or Unreal Tournament 3 and I haven't got the foggiest clue how the music worked.
The samples posted seem quite high quality and do convey a sense of bleakness though, so hats off there.
Alphafunding I support. 'Pledges' and Kickstarter and the like... Not so much.
That does look pretty good. When are you going to get hands for your weapons? :)
That's a lot of polys for an object like that. Unless you're planning on animating individual keys, I would suggest experimenting with implementing/using normal maps and/or parallax occlusion mapping.
Would it possible to get a changelist posted or is there one contained within the download, just out of curiosity?
I love and hate watching these kind of videos. I love it because it's amazing and great watching such talent. I hate it because you guys make it look soooo easy!
I like your idea with having no preset module fitting, will certainly make things interesting and anxiety inducing. That's made me track it.
Though, kind of hesitant about the use of jMonkey. Java hates me.
I'm also not sure about the GUI vs console. Will it be possible to have a GUI as an option? I've never gotten far enough in X3 to know about ship management, but I can't see having to memorize a lot of commands or constantly having to type as being easier. I can see how it would make it easier to have lots more commands though.
As usual, looks amazing. I think the thing I find most striking about this game and its videos is how furious and quick the combat it is. It is, in a way, 'more realistic'. Whereas most games you each have an HP bar and will take several direct bladed weapon hits, this game sort of points out that "Uh, no, if you get stabbed several times by a big heavy object that is very sharp with a lot of force behind it, you won't be getting up and attacking."
It makes the videos of weapon combat sort of chilling, all the more so with the animals involved and the sounds.
Anyway, I'm rambling, and just wanted to say you guys are doing an amazing job. :D
Mass Half Life Effect!
But no, seriously. Looks quite interesting and beautifully done. I'm going to have to try this out ASAP. Congratulations on the release!
Wow, watched some of the video and by that screenshot, this pack looks incredible. Unfortunately my copy got lost (and I still haven't finished the game!), if I ever pick it up again (which I'm planning to do, even more so now) I'll definitely pick up this pack.
Any plans for a Quake 4 enhancement pack?
This looks like it could be some darn good fun! I like the style.
It also looks like you could have some fun with it if you added (as DLC or something maybe) a single player campaign mode with a fun campaign in the style of Naval Warfare (recent game that came out). If you did though I'd suggest going with just text dialogue to spare yourself the worry of voice overs.
Unfortunately not in the position to be buying games right now but this will be on my radar.
Wow, this is very pretty and the lighting is cool. What tool was it baked with (assumed it's precalc'd lighting)?
You know, this is something that's been bothering me lately. I don't think that the term 'public beta' is entirely correct for situations like this, because you have to preorder the game to join. That seems that it makes it more of a private affair.
Congratulations on the progress and work though!
Why yes. Yes it does look pretty damn good. I am also now tracking, because this sounds interesting.
Odd, Firefox 4.0.1 here and no issues.
Haha, these look pretty darn cool. Just out of curiosity, are you just trying to replicate Minecraft, or are you going to expand and improve on it as well? eg quests, more expansive combat, and the sort.
Huh, for some reason I thought this wasn't coming out till July.
Unfortunately keyboard support does not seem very good at all, hopefully I'll be able to pick up a controller soon to remedy that.
Can't really say much about the game since I can't really play it yet!
Unless you're having optimization issues or art asset importing issues, I don't see a reason to change the engine, the work you've put into this is pretty darn good I must say and it's starting to show. Some of the screenshots are pretty impressive!
I still say shadows look odd, but maybe that's because it's all screenshots? If you've got dynamic shadows I think it'd be neat if you made a video displaying a moving light source in a level.
Also, if it's a science fiction game, especially one to do with people on Venus, I'd really like to see more futuristic designs. The old-fashioned computers and AK-47 don't really seem to fit into what the story says.
Other than that, can't say much at this point. Make sure to concentrate quite a bit on your shooting mechanics, as they can make or break FPS games. Look at games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, Halo, Operation Flashpoint, and Rainbow Six Vegas for games that had a good weapon feel. Then look at games like Alpha Prime and Fallout 3 (Don't get me wrong, Fallout 3 is good but as a pure shooter it would fail) for not so good mechanics.
I hope this is helpful!
MR T MUST BE PLAYABLE IN THIS GAME! I DEMAND IT!
Wow, I have to say you guys did an AMAZING job, looks very professional, and tasteful!
An Alienware! I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.
Hurray! Can't wait to see what you guys can accomplish with the great deferred rendering systems of Unity 3 and Beast.
The problem is finding the sweet spot that MOST people agree on, since everyone has a very different idea of what is under and overuse of HDR Rendering.
Looks great though!
No Desura yet though? :(
I'm holding off on trying it till it hits Desura. Looks amazing though!
I absolutely adore this game. <3
WOW, I really like how it looks with inked lines. I wasn't sure about the original drawn version, because I wasn't entirely sure all the time what I was supposed to be seeing, but this looks great! Is there going to be colour?
Because British accents are hot and typically are stereotyped as 'educated', both men and women.
That made me think of a question! For vehicles, will the view change to third person, or will there be a detailed first person in-cockpit view available? Or both?
As useful as it was, I didn't particularly like the beams from C&C4, for one they could be ridiculously overpowered, and for a second, it seemed just a little too fantasy-like for Command and Conquer (at least, Command and Conquer not Red Alert). I do however think that GDI would recognize the usefulness of a way of being able to repair on the move, and considering the use of repair drones earlier, I think they would expand on that. Something like a vehicle that could house and release repair drones perhaps?
That is some crazy awesome animation tech, especially the ideas for pain and protective ragdolls. Looks amazing.
A few bucks with a donate button on your site could work. This would certainly be worth it.
So there'll be a map editor and building creator, that's interesting and good, I was curious about what your plans on extent of moddability are going to be? Also, licensing plans for the gorgeous engine?
I was kind of hoping for an alpha-release method similar to Overgrowth/Natural Selection 2, but we'll see how this goes. Good luck, certainly looks to be interesting. Looking forward to the discussion on the map editor and such.
It's just a game engine. While it may be more convenient to make one style of game over another, it's not impossible.
In short, yes, it is.
Well, I know I can speak for one person that the appeal of ancient Rome and Eclipse isn't anywhere near as much as an unknown world and Unity3D. Not bashing or anything, kudos to Azkanan for continuing with something and broadening his knowledge, but there's no draw here for me.
Eh? Since when does it not work? I haven't played for a while, but last I checked it worked.
Shadows still don't quite seem to be working correctly? Are you going to utilize any lightmapping tools like [g]iles?
The gods are most pleased.
Sounds pretty cool, looking forward to the big reveal. There should also be before and after pics from the haircut!
Sounds like you guys are really pouring a lot into this project.
It's interesting but I have to say it looks and sounds kind of cheesy.
A third-gen Camaro in a scifi? Hmm...
Sadly I don't have a pair of red/blue glasses on hand right now, just blue/amber. A tech demo would be interesting to see, yes.
I'm not really digging the UI, I must say. Are the bars just place holders for now?
Also, could be cool if you made a UI for the 3D effect, something like cubes with depth for health/whatever the other bars are. So like, you'd have a line of blocks extending out and in that would empty (but leave a white frame) as your health/whatever emptied. Maybe? Sounds cool anyway. :P
I'd have to agree about the song. For me, it just doesn't fit at all the idea that this is supposed to be a return to realism and classic horror and adventure (unless you mean the cheese that often came along with it).
I think this trailer would do better with something a bit more dark and ambient, to sell the idea that this is horror. That trailer made me think that it'd cut to a gameplay video of something similar to Quake or Unreal Tournament.
Great level design, just not sure on the song choice/style of text.
Sometimes I forget how gorgeous his game can be.
But Dam, then the mod community smacks me in the face and reminds me. ;)
Ooo, pretty waterfall.
Whoa. This is cool.
I've been there and I must say... Spot on!
Not QUITE as beautiful, but certainly captures the spirit. ;)
These just keep getting better and better. <3
AT-TEs are so pretty. <3
Looks good. Perhaps a HAVw A6?
Hahaha, that is an awesome award. Congratulations! One on the step to many, I am sure. Game is looking more and more polished too.
Joined! Great concept art. I like the colour tones.
Intriguing, especially the eight player part. It's pretty dark, that's for sure.
Methinks you'll need new maps that are more wide open for eight players though. Mayhaps you'll be able to iron out that weird selection screen part with 8 players as well? Also hoping to see increased light range for the weapon muzzle flashes.
Good work, will be interesting to see what comes next. Did I mention it's dark? :P
And my day has been made! :D Looks amazing, and I can only imagine what it's going to look like with a texture. :B
Not the AT-TE I was hoping for, but wow... That is incredible work! So is this going to go in-game via normal mapping, or does the SC2 editor allow you to make cinematics like the ones seen in-game?
Sounds cool, are you going to keep the original Alien Swarm marine models? They seem kind of weird for marines to me. Just me, anyway.
You guys are ridiculously amazing. Just sayin'.
Click (view original).
Wow. Someone's never played Fallout 3, Oblivion, Borderlands, Metroid Prime, etc... etc...
You guys are doing a pretty amazing job, looking forward to more results. :)
Wow, I didn't know you were going to broaden into an entire... I almost said RTS, but obviously that's not right. Well, the style that includes structures and unit creation. Guess I missed something!
Looking great though, concepts are sound. Looking forward to the next playtest.
Amazing texture jobs, as always.
Aw, no larger image? Would be cool to see in high detail. Looks pretty hectic though. :)
Reminds me of Melvin.
I don't think I've seen you comment on anything other than thumbnails for a while.
I like a little nail polish meself.
Yup. Your art was good, and interesting but wowwww this is amazing haha. Darkness is a pretty cool guy, great to see you getting help.
It bothers me how simple this looks. Not that it's bad. More in the way it's like... Okay, look at those lines. They aren't fantastically artistic or difficult... Theoretically, *I* should be able to do that! But I can't.
tl;dr: You guys are awesome.
That's a pretty neat, simplistic art style. I like it!
I certainly do, all of it looks amazing! Which I had some constructive criticism, but I can't see anything to criticise at all.
Looks like a simpler The Incredible Machine for kids. That game was always good though, will be interesting to see what you come up with that's different.
On a sidenote, setting at it 1024x768 is alright, I guess, but yeah it's going to get blurry (or worse, stretched). Aren't a great deal of people's screens either 1) Netbooks, in which case it's 1024x600 (16:9) or 2) Bigger in general? or 3) Different scale (1024x768, 4:3) as opposed to any widescreen resolution? I personally don't see a lot of 1024x768 these days doing tech support.
And lastly, my only suggestion going off of what you said so far is maybe a mouseover effect for the main menu? Would make it more appealing. :)
But on PC! I love these kinds of games, I'm just not a console gamer at all. Annoyed me when Dante's Inferno didn't come out for PC.
Looks amazing, great to see progress. :)
Glow stuff! Awesome. I'm down with that.
What would be *really* interesting is if there had been a comment made by an NFS:SHIFT developer had been made about the name of the game and the mod. Would have been interesting to know if they knew about the mod or not.
Not working here. I get a map with purple blocks, but no character. Moving the mouse moves the camera within bounds, but that's all that happens. Console says it can't find maps/t11.env, maps/t11.lmap, maps/t11.way, maps/t11.script. Indeed, those files don't appear to be under that directory.
I don't think that's a hardware problem.
*facepalm* Typo and a fail.
I actually meant *No windows release yet, I take it? but after a little bit of looking, it's under your downloads on your game page.
Not a windows release, I take it?
... Holy cow. That is absolutely amazing. All of it. Especially your concept art, too. Hello new desktop background.
The game is looking amazing, not sure about the ironsights/zoom/red... Glow sight? It seems more of a hindrance than aid.
I can't stop staring at that gun. It was amazing in screenshots, but in videos, it's even better. I really don't think I've seen a better gun in any game. In some ways, you're making Unreal Engine 3.5 rival CryEngine.
Kudos, and may you keep up the amazing work. Good job, and good luck.
Wow. My eyes burn. In a good way. Might want to put an epilepsy warning on your video there. :P
It looks like good fun, however, I see no mouse indicator (if it's mouse controlled?) nor really any indication of which way you're pointing, except when you fire. To me this always proves to be a difficulty. Is there going to be something that indicates direction?
If you had been selling it though, the IP is not your own, and Microsoft would definitely take issue with that.
On the map, definitely needs more colouring. Is there going to be more distinct shadowmapping? I'm not sure what the limitations of the engine are as to texture layers. Though you could shadowmap it and blend the textures then reimport the level.
Forerunner architecture often had blue glowy stuff.
But that's still damn awesome. Wow. I love the lighting and detail. It always amazing me. I'm rubbish at designing new kinds of spaceships when I want to, and I always end up thinking everything that's possible to be designed has been, then AFF shows up with something new.
Somewhere in between the two, really. Yours have a rather nice dirty grungy look (though a little yellow for me), but the Kane's Wrath ones have extra detailing to them.
That's a cool but cute tank. xD
Even more gorgeous than the last art! The better you get, the harder it's going to be to outdo yourself next time! :P
Glad to here this is alive! I still fire it up now and then to play, it's good fun, but definitely a WIP. Waiting anxiously, but patiently. :)
Why not? It makes perfect sense. By the dinosaur screeching, the other dinosaurs around (assuming they're intelligent enough to know they're on the same 'team') would know that they've got reinforcements who are equally determined and won't run out on them, thus they'll double their efforts.
Basically the dinosaur equivalent of humans shouting "Let's go!" or whatever.
What's this? No muscle-bound hulk? Preposterous! It looks pretty good, though if you were going for realism, I imagine that would be a fairly uncomfortable position after a while. It's amazing how good you guys are making this look especially considering the limitation of no real-time shadowing.
So is this just sort of random concept art, or will this show up in the game in some form? Darn fine art though. :)
... Wow. I'm sure partially it's incredimazing because it's rendered out-of-engine, but it's still incredimazing. Awesome texture job, awesome modeling job. Poly count looks absolutely fantabulous to me.
I am SO hoping you'll make us some wallpapers, 'cause everything you guys have made is amazingly gorgeous!
DemonProwler's work certainly looks amazing, incredible texture work indeed. Great that the team is growing, this project becomes more interesting with each update.
It shall be interesting to see how you go about doing the 3D view, perhaps (Real) Myst and... There's a game I'm thinking of, can't remember it, I played an excellent demo a long time ago, but it was Lovecraftian in nature and a mystery game that seemed similar (in game style, not near art style or story) to what you're doing. If I can remember, I shall post the name of it.
Telvanni buildings never have looked like they adjusted well to being in the brightness of Oblivion. Morrowind was always dark, and they fit there. But you've got a pretty amazing mod going here. :)
That text is a little hard to read like that, but another gorgeous screenshot and good to hear things are progressing. :)
Not really enough there to have comments, but it looks quite detailed.
Wow, that's an incredible piece of art, I love the ambience and lighting!
Hopefully won't take too much time away from SHIFT, sounds like an interesting storyline, obviously you're giving that line to try and hook more people in. :P
For box modeling, extrusions are the way to go, not just starting with roughly what you think are the amount of lines/vertices you want. Not sure if that's the way you were going about it, but it sounded like not.
Good luck with the project, *tracked.
Looks absolutely fine to me. :)
Haha, typical with fonts. :(
But the replacement looks like it works as well, and it shall be interesting to see what Shadow comes up with as well, hopefully he can create a hybrid mix between his style and the paper style perhaps?
*whistles* That's some amazing, lovely art there. :) Too bad it's not 1920x1080, that'd be my background.
Looks intriguing, and thank you VERY much for writing in a comprehensible, well thought out and organized style. I'll definitely track this. It's funny, today in Poetry class we were talking about the idea of imposing constraints on oneself to attempt to heighten creativity, and your budget of $0 seems to be working well in that regard, however unintentional. Will be interesting to see where this goes.
I'm guessing that this is for that Game Maker contest? I dunno, seems like it, as it's simple and the resolution is tiny.
Working within those constraints...
The camera. Seems to be working against you more than for you. For one, it should be pulled out further, and it would be better if it didn't keep the player dead center, if it had sort of a 'zone' instead. A lot of the time I couldn't actually see the spikes and more jumped into them to see what was down there than actually missing the jump.
Also, there just doesn't seem to be anything new or different. It's another platformer. I know 3D is fairly complicated using GameMaker, but that alone doesn't seem enough to make the game interesting. Perhaps a storyline or somesuch?
That's all I can think of. :)
Oh okay. I did that a while ago too, ironically enough. Looks like you guys sure have your work cut out for you, I've got a lot of reading in your Wiki to do. :p
I'm supporting you guys and all, and I think Unity3D is a good change, but don't blame someone else because you didn't read the fineprint. Maybe that wasn't your intention, but it sounded like it. :/
Here's hoping that you guys can create some landscapes in that video! :)
"Doom feels more like 1st person Robotron than a modern FPS"
That's got to be one of the silliest statements I've ever heard. A guy designing an FPS in 2009 is saying an FPS from 1993 isn't modern? Ohmigosh, how'd you figure that out?
Interesting mod though, wasn't aware you could do that much to Doom. Congrats. :)
It was probably a joke, considering the guy gave absolute zero information on what his actual problem is. "An error that I need something" is utterly unhelpful.
OH bby! That looks incredifriggin' awesome! Looking forward to it! :)
Out of curiosity, are you using a Unity Professional license or just the free engine, because those are some mighty pretty graphics you've achieved (3D, your 2D art is always amazing I can't imagine it's hindered by an engine).
I'll be honest, with a name like that, kind of weird to have it as a signpost. I mean, I'd understand if you had the name of the game be wreck, but called the racing tournament in the game something else, but Wreck really doesn't seem all that conducive to getting more participants. :p
I love it! Awesome. Sad though, 'cause I'm sure I won't hear it often in my hurry to get to a race. :<
What programs were used for composition?
Tons of debate here!
As such, I'll have to say that TAK is better and automatically win.
To be honest, I preferred the actual gameplay of Total Annihilation, but TAK had such an incredible amount of lore and backstory that it drew me in and kept my playing. :)
You comment a lot and he's busy on his game?
Wow, you guys are freaking amazing.
I wasn't talking about the mod. :P I was talking about the game itself.
I have X3: Reunion, and this game looks so amazing, as does your mod, but I just can't figure out how to play it! I've read through the manual to no avail...
Haha, apparently you don't feel you have to consult the ESRB to see if you could possibly wrangle a 'T for Teen', I see? :P
I'll probably get voted down into oblivion, but really... It's rather odd that this made it to the homepage...
Can't say I'm personally jazzed about the art style, but I do like the multiple gameplay styles idea. That would do a lot to keep it interesting and varied. Will be interesting to watch this grow.
I must say, this is the kind of map that interests me more. As amazingly cool as this game overall sounds, playing in a map with nothing but empty space doesn't sound as much fun as having obstacles that you can use to tactical advantage in ways.
I wish my **** was that pretty. Looking great!
Wow, that is gorgeous. Doesn't really look like Unreal 3!
Wow, looks amazing, and sounds good! Lots of strategies here. Would control points be actual objects, or just areas of space?
Whoa, that's pretty. I like!
Sadly I don't have Oblivion currently so I can't try it out, sorry. :(
But definitely tracking so I'll remember!
Whoa, interesting. I like that system.
Making good progress. :)
Co-op multiplayer and 141 class combinations sounds interesting (though, as you say, really only 6 full classes), but those colors are... Interesting...
Hm. Worth taking a look at.
I approve this message!
Sounds very very interesting. Tracking.
Looks very nice, I like the lighting. Having the hand there now makes it look very cool. :D
Er... This is not sage... Or C&C...
... I really can't think of anything to say. 'Wow' and 'amazing' just don't touch this. And I mean that in a good way. Words fail me.
Looking good! Very atmosphere, I like it. It kind of seems like some of the items aren't casting shadows though? Like the dumpster and concrete blocks. Not sure, could just be the angle of view/lighting.
Gah, I wish I HAD Battlefield 2142. :(
Cool project though! =D
You could use mu... Oh. Right. Looks good to me! Especially chunky, very eye catching. Will be interesting to see them textured, will there be normal mapping?
Glad to see this game on ModDB, is it still running on Panda3D?
Your screenshots are always insanely gorgeous and realistic. Soon the question will be: "Can it run Traction Wars?"
Oh, I was talking more graphically than design, actually.
Hard to say about depth of field, the amount of static makes it hard to tell. Interesting image though, looks more like a horror game.
Those hands look kind of weird, but great to see stuff in game! Good job!
*whistles* Very pretty, look awesome. Keep up the good work! *tracked
Looks alright to me. Not spectacular, but not bad either. I've seen some pretty good stuff from Torque 3D, so I'm sure you guys can push it some more. :)
... Wut? Hey, Feillyne. Is there some way you can fix how the news works? Because half the time there are updates that don't even mention what mod they're from and I have no clue what they're talking about...
Makes it rather weird.
... I have no idea what you just said.
Maps are looking good, I'm not really familiar with the quake 1 engine, will there be lightmapping for it?
@Lazy Sammich - Again, I'm unfamiliar with Quake, can the UI support transparency, like PNG images? Because then you could do it fairly simplistic but stylish. Just look at the previous Metroid Prime games for inspiration! Also Star Wars Republic Commando.
Stunned? No... No... That doesn't quite cover it. This is AMAZING. Just hope the physics work out, I never really liked the Crysis vehicles much.
Not that it seems confusing, just that it seems HUGE! And IN-YOUR-FACE. Plus it's the typical RTS interface, CnC (exception of Generals) was always nice for a change.
*sigh* So far, not promising. Please tell me those circles will be subdued...
It's all just too busy with the interface there.
... I'm not diggin' the interface there. :/
Ahh... So that's what this is. I had seen screenshots on Ogre, had no idea what it was though. Nice to see some low priced Indie games come out on Ogre!
Not sure if I'll get this one, the camera is a bit odd for me, but we'll see, and good luck. :)
... Your Orcas are BADASS. Major win!
PLEASE send your models to EA, show 'em how it's done! ;)
Your comment is about as mature as their actions.
Shame that the mod is having this issue.
Some stay dry and others feel the pain!
Oooh, very nice. Ironically, without you having done his hands yet, it looks like those belts on his wrists are because he got them chopped off or something. :P
... Can you make it 1920x1080? :(
... But wow, that's a nice map. This will indeed be an interesting project. *tracked
... Even though I don't have a PSP. Heh.
They're all great, love the first one. Will love to see further progress!
Which is the point. It requires CS:S and nothing else, but is listed as a Half-Life 2 mod, which is rather misleading. But do as you will, I suppose.
And dammit people, stop voting me down for making valid points. xD
I was under the impression that came with Counter Strike Source. At least, the Source SDK does.
And as you say, "To play, only Counter-Strike: Source is required. If it is not already installed, the free Source SDK base will also be downloaded through Steam automatically when the mod is started for the first time." If CSS is required, it would make sense to list it for CSS instead of HL2.
Agreed. This mod looks intriguing, but I do not have Gears of War nor do I intend on getting it... :/
Erm. If Counter-Strike Source is required, why is this listed as a Half-Life 2 mod? I was excited and it looked cool till I saw that. I don't have CS:S.
I don't play RA3, I wouldn't know. >.>;
Looks interesting though.
What's the big glowing floating thing in the semi-bottom left?
Sounds amazing. Two thumbs up.
As long as you don't incorporate EVE's time-based leveling mechanics. Ugh.
Other than that... Sounds quite interesting. Really need to get my hands on Freelancer one of these days, the amount of good looking mods for it is getting too great...
This sounds *really really* cool, not just as an educational tool, but also the storyline in general.
Alas, I am not near those skills in programming yet. I may reinstall Neverwinter Nights and give it a whirl anyway, though.
... I kinda wish people would stop using acronyms expecting everyone to know what it is.
I mean, I don't know how to look at this map. Is it a campaign type map? Is it multiplayer? What IS OSTR? Yeah, I could search it, but with these images, I kinda assume YOU'RE the one trying to interest me. I shouldn't have to interest myself.
Just my 2 cents.
... Wut? Is this Red Alert 3 on a really terrible map, or in the world builder, or what?
It would be cool to have a comparison between diffuse and diffuse + AO. These shots alone are quite amazing though.
I'm slightly confused though. Is the AO map integrated with the diffuse map, or is it a separate texture map, shader, or something else altogether?
Loving the informative posts.
Ouch, that's pretty heavy on detail. Makes it look pretty though.
Not sure I want to know what your minimum computer specs for running everything on high would be.
Looks like good improvement, very pretty. Kind of disappointed about not much for Scrin. Was looking for new toys. :/
Keep up the good work!
The cobblestones are green? oO
Pretty, though the ground looks like it could use work. Just curious, will there be any actual point to being able to go up on top of those buildings?
Look like a large city, hoping there's lots to do there. :)
Sounds good, hopefully I can get a computer that'll run NWN2 by then. xP
Well, shifting it towards single player and co-op definitely gets ME a heck of a lot more interested in it. Great to hear, and good luck. :)
Wow, I had to check to see if this wasn't Unreal Engine 3 when I saw this. Amazing screenshot.
Really interesting for an in-game screenshot. It looks like a piece of concept art in water-painting. Don't know if that's the blurriness or resolution or what.
But it looks purty. :3
Is TGEA that bad? I was thinking about using it a while ago. Are there huge advantages to TGE?
Obviously you were intending to use TGE, so it's a shame your plans got changed.
Great to know that Cc is still going though, and it sounds to me this episodic style will really mix things up. Yes, it won't be a huge game in one release. Yes, there'll be many differences between everything. But it'll definitely keep things interesting. Good luck, can't wait to see what happens.
Ooo. Pretty. Kudos to the artists. Does the name mean something special? Or just sound so darn cool?
... That looks an awfully lot like where I live. xD
Good art. Wish I could draw. Keep it up!
Split Screen for PC... THANK YOU. o.o;
I've been looking for games that do this for ages... I think it's a feature that needs to be added more, especially with the whole Media Center or Computer in your Living Room stance. I've got my rig attached to my TV, and I don't like consoles, and I don't like online play, so I love split-screen.
Now I'm REALLY excited. :p
War Rhino. I'm in love already. D:
I've just found a reason to get Crysis.
