I believe it's personal preference people are more willing to work on things they have more of a connection to the faction as this is a fan project for free. Fuggles, keoulis and the others could probably back me up here because I'm sure that's why custodes have taken so long they just aren't really fussed atm

When the next update comes 5.9 came out end of febuary 2021 6.9 came out in end of july this year so expect it some time next year but the creators will tell us closer to the time:)
