I have patched to V1.0005 and for some odd reason I have the U.S. version of the game, to be honest I think this is a problem of my own making, adding and merging a large amount of textures and shaders, plus the fact I had added some new commands to the exe properties, if I work backwards and eliminate the ones causing the bugs and then work/mess! :) around from there I hope to sort it out.
Typically I had to work late today so might leave this task till tomorrow, it might sound weird but I actually enjoy sorting bugs like this out.....
Yeah thats true :)
The funny thing is they all worked on the large Escape Garbage single map so it shouldn't be too much of a problem, I have just had a quick juggle with it and the saves work...so hopefully I can get it bug free soon and have a play through on it...Ket is right about X Ray giving you headaches!....ah well back to the drawing board
thanks for the feedback :)
But in twenty percent of all the time the error log does NOT tell you what's wrong. That's still a good amount, when I first had that problem, I had to dig the whole interwebs to find the solution.
20% in reality turns out to be rare scenarios and not a regular occurrence so looking at the log file will in a large majority of cases save a lot of time and hassle.
To be honest when I got the CTD's I didn't give much attention to the error log :/, just started reverse engineering for want of a better description, yeah I think you're right I should probably give them a little more attention in future, save myself some grief no doubt.
Yup, then eventually you'll get to the stage I'm at, see a error, and just know automatically what file / directory to go to. I've been modding too long :p
I did have a hunch on this one that the error could only be down to a couple of things, luckily I seemed to get it right on this occasion, but I guess I wont get lucky every time
Even when you get to the stage of knowing the directory structure sometimes you'll have a hell of a time fixing the issue. Especially if you start texture editing as some textures only use a small part of the texture itself in-game. Come across this at least 3 times, found the pesky parts in the end.
That loading problem is qute common for a mod not matching your game version. Which vers do you have?

Sure, I understand, it's called working pleasure :D
Not all mods support 1.0005 :D

No problem :D
What does the error log say? 80% of the time the error log is actually pointing you at the exact cause of the problem.
But in twenty percent of all the time the error log does NOT tell you what's wrong. That's still a good amount, when I first had that problem, I had to dig the whole interwebs to find the solution.
Well I guess it would make sense for me read them though :)

I suppose there are so many angles with these things....never straightforward.
