Great conclusion to the years-long saga of Amnesia mods from this creator! Very sad to see this series end but at least we got an awesome final CS to play. Extraction Point is similar to Dark Case, another great mod by this creator, with elements and places from Final Revelations sprinkled in. The callbacks to all his other mods in this series are so rewarding for people like me whom have played these custom stories for years, and for new players I recommend starting from the beginning. Extraction Point is definitely one of the more challenging mods he's done, as it should be. It's VERY well designed from a gameplay standpoint with a new power up mechanic unlike any other CS I know of.

This would be a 10/10 but I must mention the sound Every character has a text to speech voice and there's a LOT of dialogue. This detracts from the story and atmosphere so much, and comes off as pretty memey. Very strange creative choice.

Still, this is a GREAT custom story. Play all of his mods!

Brutal Lies {Short, story based CS}

Mod review

Amazing story and lots of fun playing this, uncovering all of the, indeed, brutal lies. I played Final Revelations beforehand so my mind was blown in how these stories interconnect! Almost all of KrustiClawn's custom stories connect like that and it's so amazing, definitely recommend this. Another highlight is the beautiful mapping, the environments are so much fun to explore.

Well, that's 45 mins of my day I won't get back...

The Xen Campaigns

Mod review

Total clusterfuck. The firefights are supposed to be huge and epic but the black ops and marines end up killing friendlies by accident due to the awful level design. Just a mess, I'm a diehard OP4 fan and this is one you want to stay away from.

Final Revelations V.3

Mod review

I played this on a Mac with absolutely no problems. Also, got the good ending on my first try, woohoo!
Gameplay length: about 7 hours

Final Revelations is not only the best Amnesia mod I've ever played (even better than the likes of Penumbra Necrologue, A Late Night Drink, and Dark Case) but I would go as far to say I enjoyed it more than Amnesia The Dark Descent, which was a good but flawed game. Final Revelations is not your typical horror mod - in fact, it is an exploration based adventure game with a puzzle focus and horror themes. The puzzles are brilliantly designed and fun to solve. The monster encounters are scarce which makes them all the more horrifying, not to mention most of the enemies are the kind you would not expect in a usual Amnesia mod. I won't spoil all of them, but the Penumbra Overture dogs are in it a lot and they work a lot differently than the usual biped monsters which makes for an interesting experience. Final Revelations is also a very story-based mod set in the same universe as Alma and Brutal Lies, two of Kaernk's previous mods. The story is fantastic in that it can be dark and genuinely sad but also laugh out loud funny and clever. The bartender characters - Grunte and La Grunta - shine in particular, but there are also some great running jokes like the naked drunk man and this weird *** scientist from Penumbra Black Plague lying around. The music adds a lot to the strong atmosphere, I think there's something here for everyone - classical, usual horror music, hard rock, and even a country number at the very end. I already mentioned this is primarily an adventure puzzle game but one of its best and most original aspects is the RPG element. Some sections of the game are linear while others aren't. You can collect money to either use in side quests or to purchase items in stores from comically manipulative salesmen, which brings me to a little detail I love about this mod: meat. In Dark Case there were two health restoring items, one of which restored more health than the other. In this mod beer restores your health a bit but consuming meat (just a big *** slab of meat on a bone) will give you a better boost in health, not to mention wine is a replacement for sanity potion. You know, that's a great little addition, I love meat from beef jerky to pork to beef to steak, so great job for making me hungrier! If there's a follow up to Final Revelations, which there should be, I'd love to see beef jerky (model from Penumbra Overture) as a health restoring item. But, I digress. The atmosphere is absolutely great in Final Revelations. As someone who has travelled through several major European countries I love the atmosphere of Gothfair, the small town where a lot of the mod takes place. It feels rustic and classic, just really peaceful. Of course there are many genuinely scary environments, my favorite of which is the mansion you break into midway through the story.

In conclusion, this is a perfect mod in my opinion and I would love to see a sequel/short expansion/mission pack exploring new gameplay elements (hopefully beef jerky) in the near future. Give this one a play, it is amazing!

A Soldier's Tale

Mod review

AMAZING MOD! I love OP4 to death, it's quite possibly my favorite game of all time! This is a wonderfully done OP4 mod, it feels like an expansion pack to OP4 (yes an expansion to an expansion!) since it takes place in the HL universe and even has some very good references to the OP4 story while not doing anything new, kind of like Blue Shift. You get a ton of weapons and there are many friends to help you out along the way. It's a blast! Try this one out!

Little Sky Scraper of Horrors

Mod review

Very fun mod! I played it on Mac no problem. It's pretty short but fans of OP4 squad-based gameplay will love it! You get to take your little gang - a medic, engineer, and gasmask shotgunner - throughout the entire mod. There's a good selection of enemies to fight: enemy HECU marines, black ops, HECU zombies, and a small assortment of Xen and Race X aliens - there's also a great helicopter boss battle. Overall very fun little mod, it took me about 20 minutes to beat.

Non Omnis Moriar

Mod review

~VERSION 1.0 REVIEW~

Non Omnis Moriar is, without a shadow of a doubt, the scariest mod for any game I have EVER played. It is full of memorable and terrifying monster encounters; one of the mod's biggest strengths is that most of the time the player encounters packs of monsters working together. You also get a solid 3 - 5 hours of gameplay from this mod depending on how good you are.

The story is satisfying. It is basically a fanfic that carries on the story of Machine for Pigs, and for the most part it is really consistent with the original game. Non Omnis Moriar is more gameplay driven than story driven however, which is certainly its main strongpoint given the abundance of cleverly designed puzzles and terrifying monster encounters that will force the player to actually strategize their moves. Speaking of which, the monster encounters are very challenging in this mod, but in a good way.

The only part of this mod I didn't enjoy is part of a puzzle that involved the player finding cogwheels and dragging them back to a machine. One of the cogwheels is far below the main ground level, which means you have to tediously carry it while you spam the space bar to sort of glitch-jump up the side of the temple. The physics are often glitchy in this section, resulting in the player taking lots of fall damage. It doesn't affect my experience with the mod a lot though.

I hold Non Omnis Moriar in high respects much like TDD mods like Dark Case and The Attic. It is an instant classic that fans of TDD and MFP will enjoy alike.

Amnesia - The Fugitive - Episode One

Mod review

It's full of recycled scenes (as in recycled environments complete with the same puzzles they had before) from the original game and the monster encounters are pretty lackluster. Not worth the time.
