My main focus is testing PC games in Linux. I have had a lot of success with PlayOnLinux in Linux Mint! I am working hard at creating step-by-step guides on how to install, configure and optimize PC games in PlayOnLinux. I am also a artist with skills in drawing, sculpture, graphic arts, 3D modeling and music.

Very nice demo! The visuals are great and the Menu's are very professional. You guys did a lot of work on developing this game and it shows.
I'm hoping there will be mouse control for rotating the character, this way we can avoid hits and use the bow.

I really like the trim under the patio roof... I also like the crackle texture you added to the roof trim as well.
Very nice transitions from one surface to another.
I can see the textures repeating, but I have a feeling its a sacifice worth making to keep the file sizes small and the performance high.

Normals end up as an image anyways, so is there a way to cheat and use Photoshop to smooth out edges instead of baking?

I honestly don't see the errors you see. The screenshots look very nice and most people don't give models a lot of attention like an artist. Of course you already know this.
I've seen some pretty bad models in-game, but you only notice the error if you take the time to look it over.

So I'm just saying, it would be nice to have an alternative to building high-poly models and baking.

I'm very inspired by what you are doing and the quality of the result

Instead of being honored for them, you are punished by a selfish, self-consumed person who would rather use people.

I've played a few RPGs with voice acting and mostly skip the dialog to get on with the quests. So I never really hear all of the dialog anyways.
Even with Oblivion where the dialog and animation are beautiful, I still skip certain parts to move on.

Voice acting can always be added later on

Very nice post... thank you for taking the time to describe your experience of making an indie game in full detail!
It seems you are being hard on yourself when you actually released a fun, successful independent game.
There are very few that finish and thousands that are abandoned.
I actually think you have a clever piece of artwork here... though some don't see it because they are 15 years old and don't know how to write a single piece of constructive criticism.
I am quite envious of your success! I have dreamed of making my own small game and know that I would easily get in over-my-head. But you did it! Keeping it simple actually allowed room for keeping it perfect... and FINISHING. Its very rare to see a one many development.
So I am very inspired by your success.

I really like Swooooords and what the game offers in gameplay and graphics.
Everyone would want high resolution real-life textures on every model, but as you know only teams of developers can create such work in a reasonable amount of time. Some games just have a old school feel with simple graphics.... and they are easy to dismiss when the game is fun and immersive.
You easily achieve all of these aspects in game design.
I LOVE the fighting system! Its fun, action packed and requires some strategy. Hack-n-slash is cool too, but sometimes its nice to plan a strategy before slashing up all the minions.
I really enjoyed how easy it was to control the main character and use a black/attack method to defend myself when surrounded.
I hope you use this same fighting method in your next game! Its pretty dang fun!
So in conclusion, I applaud your hard work and ability to continue despite the critics and immature commenters. I think you have broken a barrier that so few have the energy, time and stubbornness to break through.

Most dynamic websites are using PHP and a database running in the server side code. This keeps a website fresh, always-changing and interactive.

Very cool! Prefabs included in Blockade Runner will create a huge visual impact along with the cube methods...
I'm glad you guys use Sketchup in your workflow!
Sketchup is an amazing tool with a huge ease-of-use capability!
There are some pretty cool advanced tools and plugins also.
I have experimented with Sketchup and game design for a long time and found that Sketchup alone won't create the visually stunning static meshes in modern-day engines, but its a great place to start learning.
My biggest problem was fgons, ngons, and normals. Sketchup doesn't really give us control over these 3D properties and these are pretty critical for static meshes or prefabs.
Sketchup actually makes a mess of ngons and normals and when exported to another engine... its completely useless.
I ended up relying on Blender alone, but the workflow it extremely slow compared to Sketchup. So I look forward to a day when Sketchup allows more control over ngons and normal so I can do most of my static meshes and then export as DAE, or OBJ, then import directly into the game engine or Blender/3dMax

This is a great topic because Christians get tired of playing games that are plagued with swearing, sex, stealing, murder and exaggerated amounts of blood.
I find myself looking for "T" rated games but the real winners always seem to be "M" games. So I'll settle for it and play the "M" titles anyways, but I always ask myself if all the previously noted elements are necessary.
Its easy to pass off the blood & gore because the Bible is full of it. There is plenty of War in the Bible too where women, children and livestock was all obliterated by Gods command.
There is a lot of debate about violence in games and how children are less sensitive to mature themes. I could go on and on...
Most "M" games today are equal to rated "R" movies. I have sold off games that were just too mature and even wondered if I should have thrown it in the trash.
In the end, my favorite games are usually Fantasy and "T" in nature. I look forward to a good Christian title that includes stories from the Bible (even the wars) and teaches about Jesus. Its difficult for developers to do this because is playing a game really worship? Well yes, but we usually pass it as entertainment. Can developers create a game that encourages us to grow, love, give, serve and proclaim the Work of Jesus? I'm sure its possible, but most people will think its boring...
... some day the developers will do it
Assassins Creed has some Religious themes with Christian history and was extremely fun, but of course the main character murders for the sake of war, religion and politics.
Maybe there is a way to create a character like that who, stops assassins and saves people in the time of war?

My FTP is totally free cause a friend has over 12 Gigs of space on his server. so my small websites don't even scratch it.
There is free hosting out there, but they rely on banner advertising as I'm sure you already know.

I have tried Magebane because it looks like a promising RPG with three characters, but I never made it out of the very first room (Bar) without dying.

I have played Notorium a little bit and its pretty cool. A bit confusing, but has some interesting environments and alien enemies.
Give it a try.

Nice low poly models here.
Are you using Sketchup or Blender for your modeling?
Looks a lot like Sketchup.
Keep up the work.

Great outlook on life drawing. I took some figure drawing classes when I was in college and it was probably the most difficult type of drawing. Proportion is so difficult because the human body looks a specific way even though we all look different. You may want to study muscles too. knowing the way muscles look under the skin will help you with proportion and shading on the skin. I am more of a perspective concept artist, but I have done a few human drawings. Extremely hard. Just like drawing animals. I'm sure there are some medical websites dedicated to the muscles and bone structure.
Keep up the hard work. It will pay off one day. I can't wait to model a person in 3D.

In that case... your proportions are great! 1 hour drawing is pretty difficult to put a lot of detail. Are you planning on doing some storyboarding? or are these for Concept Art purposes?

I really like the blurred goblet in the back... very nice
Not to mention the watch of course... It looks absolutely real!

Great Job, I have a huge history of skulls. I have been drawing them since Jr High. One of my favorite artists 'Pushead' drew a lot of skulls for Metallica albums and accessories.
Go to my profile and look at the images at the end. You will see a few skulls from back-in-the-day.
Don't be afraid to draw the teeth. Just practice on crooked teeth first before you learn to draw straight teeth.
Straight teeth have to look a certain way to be convincing.
Otherwise, very nice. Lots of detail and lots of potential!
