Company of Heroes: Eastern Front

Mod review

The dev team made a fantastic work on the units models, they are wonderful, detailed, it's really nice to see.
However it stops there. Balance is incredibly bad.
Infantry is useless against infantry. Also useless against medium tanks, even behind heavy cover they get OS one by one while missing their shots.
Tanks, any tank regardless of the faction is a shell-sponge.

You want a good mod ? Get Blitzkrieg.
"pseudo realistic damage/penetration", " pseudo realistic axis fanboy stuff" (words of one of the devs talking about BK).
Maybe, but it brings strategy. You know why ? In EF, I don't need to bother scouting area for my tanks. I send them, I see AT cannons in the vincinity, "oh snap !", they take some hits, I send them back to base, they move backwards while taking some shots and I just have to repair them to send them back.
In BK, if you don't scout the area, you gonna lose your tanks. Because they can't take more than 2-3 hits.

If the possibility of bringing down bigger and heavier armies with fewer numbers isn't strategy, I don't know how to call this.
I got rid of 4 Stuarts just with a single armored car with 28 mm cannon. Just because I flanked them inside a village.
"Oh you must be an axis fanboy". Don't worry, also take down panzers with one Staghound just hitting target's rear.

You just can't even OS a jeep with a panther in EF.

Blitzkrieg Mod

I played this mod since its very creation, and was by far my favourite CoH mod. I couldn't even play vanilla version again, Blitzkrieg became indispensable.

Top notch balance, plenty new units, epic battles, it had everything to stay this awesome. It reached its climax between late 4.8 and 4.9 version.
Then it started to decay. Balance was just crumbling down. AI became dumber and dumber. Pleasure granted by playing this mod just left bit by bit.

One day, I gave this mod a 10/10.
But today I don't even feel like keeping playing a mod going this direction.
Howcome JagdPanther gets two-shot by Shermans ? Howcome JagdTiger randomly gets one-shot ? Even playing as US/CW it's now too easy to destroy german armor. No more challenge, no more fear fighting axis' tank hunters. No use of combined assaults, tanks grouped with infantry, the latter getting pinned down in the first 5 sec of the battle just by top turret MG ; when not insta-killed ?

Holy ****, what is this ****** balance ?
-Tanks deal no damage versus tanks,
-AA units deal no damage versus aircraft, btw they created the worst AA units ever seen in video game history. In vanilla or other mods like Contra, even one AA unit is enough to make me think twice before sending choppers or fighters. Now I can build 4 helos and wipe out the whole map.
-Superweapons are plain useless, slightly more powerful than general's powers.
-No enough money on maps and everything is damn expensive. So when when you built your first little force you to wait for ages to do further things. And when supply depots are empty, you have to wait even longer.
-Optimization. Needless to say more.
SO ! Balance + lag + everything expensive + no m boring dull and uselessly DAMN LONG games.

I like the pop cap increase, but makes allied AI incredibly stupid and game unbalanced.
Why some factions get 3 times numerous squads when other get only twice ?
