But based off the concerns of your last mod, let me ask you a question: Will there be scimitars?

...kidding

I mean, I thought they were fine ;p In some situations crossbowmen are good, in some archers are good, in some either will wreck lower tier infantry (like in a siege) but in open field battles I don't find them anything special. I might be biased, because I played a lot of pendor, but I'm fairly used to archers inflicting fairly heavy casualties on enemy forces before melee starts - and by that standard, ranged units here are fairly underwhelming except during sieges. TLDR: I think they are fine as they are.

My experience is, "it varies" - crossbowmen behind walls do damage, but on open field I find that the arabic-themed factions use of cavalry largely makes them an afterthought. Archer, archers, on the arabic side seem a bit better off in my experience, but that could just be because mounted archers seem more challenging targets by comparison to dismounted ones. I think it works, anyhow.

I'm going to throw my opinion in on the other side of that; More units comes down to more complaints about imbalance between them - as is everything seems to work out, and the customized units within every capital city add a bit of flavor while still being limited enough in numbers so as to not really throw anything.

For me it's not such a stretch to imagine the soldiers of the crusader states as being broadly european in any case, or including mercenaries in their ranks - it's all fairly abstract in any case anyways; Making a faction member's army roster a longer list doesn't necessarily add anything to the game, imo.

Aside though, while I like everything as it is, maybe a way for a teutonic lord to recruit more bishops or a special unit, in the same way the other monastic orders can, when they first claim a city, would be nice - although they start with enough priests and bishops its likely not key or anything.

And, the wildlings only recruit spear wives? I'm guessing this is just unfinished this second though!

BECAUSE THEY'RE MAKING IT AS MUCH FOR THEIR ENTERTAINMENT AS ANYONE ELSES!?!?!?!

This game is fairly ancient, anyone still building for it is likely building because they enjoy what they're making, play it or don't, but crawling down their throat because they don't share your taste is ignorant.

I can't seem to unlock the secret prison, even after catching the quest :/ Am I missing something obvious?

Seriously, you said it once. It probably didn't need to be said, even that once - its the builder's time, if they enjoy the setting and the material, they should go for it; What other content makers are working on just isn't relevant.
