Description

As i recently got myself a scanner, i decided to scan and upload some of my earlier works that were created before my lotr concepts, here is on of them - Anzû the bird of Terror from Sumerian mythology. "Anzû is a divine storm-bird and the personification of the southern wind and the thunder clouds. This demon—half man and half bird—stole the "Tablet of Destinies" from Enlil and hid them on a mountaintop. Anu ordered the other gods to retrieve the tablet, even though they all feared the demon. According to one text, Marduk killed the bird; in another, it died through the arrows of the god Ninurta" - as mentioned on Wikipedia. As it is seen on the drawing I have drawn Anzû based on the half bird/half humanoid description, with a bird-shaped helmet and some ornamental attire added into the mix.
