Rome Total Realism VII

Mod review

Great unit design, imo the best of the Punic War mods out there. Unlike in other mods the territory is huge, Iberia e.g. isn's just a handful of provinces.
My favorite unit is the Carthaginian Reform infantry, a take on Roman strategy incorporated into the Carthaginian army by Hannibal.
The barbarians are also just really well done. There's two tribes on the Iberian peninsula in addition to the two tribes in Gaul, really emphasizing that those countries were far from united which was one of the main reasons why they couldn't prevail against Rome and Carthage. Now if they had you as a good leader though...

Sands of Faith

Mod review

This is a great mod that takes the graphic work from Crusaders - way to Expiation and puts it into a really well-done overall world.
Beautifully done are the new map and the new scenes of the towns and castles which this mod is providing as well as the coding itself - I haven't really experienced any bugs and it's not even the 1.0 version!

An awesome feature is that you can also start as a lord or even king! Beware though that since you start with low gold, level 1 and only 200 renown it gets hard at the beginning to keep up with other NPCs, especially when you're the leader of a faction!
This is also just a real nice feature to take a quick look at the mod and don't want to invest like 10 hours before you can finally afford a horse and cool armor ; )

The balancing is also pretty well done: The 4 Crusader factions only have about half the lords of the Arabian ones but since those are divided and can't be on all spots at once due to only having one marshal they'll lose quite a lot of lands once the war starts.

The reason this is "only" a 9/10 for me though is the late-game-fun of this mod: The developer has taken out all the modifiers so that the player doesn't get imbalanced gear compared to the opponents.
While I understand his reasoning due to this you can't really spend your money on better weapons or armor later in the game though which makes it kinda dull: No matter if you acquire things on the battlefield from loot or from a shop: The quality is always plain.
At least for me this kinda spoils the fun when I have like 100000 denars and the only thing I can buy is even more troops.

Note also that the variety of weapons is rather small due to historical reasons, we were promised that you could use your one-handed sword with two hands too though in the future.
The armor has also really low stats compared to other mods or the vanilla game, mid-class troops get 25 body armor while the knight have to be satisfied with 28. This makes for some surprisingly dynamic combat though. Also knights are still really good with their lances on horseback, just not as super-powerful as in Warband.

Nevertheless this is a great mod that really everybody should check out, even if this scenario doesn't appeal to you on first glance!

A Clash of Kings (Game of Thrones)

Mod review

The mod itself is a 9/10, especially because of the high potential it still has after so many improvements even after all these months I've been playing it. There're just always new things coming and especially for AWoIaF fans it's worth looking around the map since you can see a lot of time invested in the lore which is really rare for a M&B mod since the game itself has always been very cold in its atmosphere.

I would've downgraded if it asked me for my opinion on Cozur himself but it didn't, so a 9/10 it is. Yes he sometimes can be quite a douchebag, but it's actually wrong when people state that he doesn't listen to suggestions and just does his thing without caring about what other people think. It's just that he normally doesn't reply to posts in the taleworlds forum. You very often still see new stuff that's been suggested in the forum implemented in the new versions though.
