love the mod but the ally AI is broken. they'll just stay at a base no matter how many times yout ping anywhere. has happened to me two times in a row now as unsc. also covenant is unstoppable early on.

I'm glad you are of the same opinion also that halo wars 2 is trash ;) ;)

It would be interesting to add a few elements from it though and I don't necessarily mean a leader wheel for covenant.

But, the blisterbacks would be awesome to have in this game or something like it. also the reavers are a pretty sick anti air unit also.

Some of the infantry also were cool like the grenadiers, goliaths, snipers, grunt riders, etc.

The condor was kind of cool also but you buffed the vultures pretty high in this game so it's probably not necessarily. Having a bunker drop leader power would be kind of cool.

Adding mech units would be sweet also.

having a couple super units you could get for each faction would be cool also. Or if you could build a super unit focused on something specific. For example, normal scarab vs toxic scarab. Toxic scarab does less damage but poisons the area around it like voridus' did.

Idk, these ideas might be a little wild but I love shaking things up and adding new features. I love the base game of halo wars 1 so much better but there are some elements of halo wars 2 that would be fun to see in this game.

Hell, is it possible to have a survial/firefight mode in this? That's probably asking way too much but just a thought.

Thanks again for keeping this alive. Can't say it enough. I'm just trying to throw ideas out since you're spending effort making them a reality. I figure the least I could do is present a bunch of ideas to make that portion of development easier.

Okay played it so far and the improvements are a definite step in the right direction. The AI actually seems to be a little smarter also!

Siege turrets are pretty good. I wish you could add an auto target option for the covenant mega turret. I also wish the covenant mega turret had a better animation for the shell fired (a little thicker) and a bigger explosion upon impact. Maybe a little more damage too.

I still think adding more turret slots or building slots could be a fun option to fiddle around with. I also think adding in some new units would be cool. My favorite are units that take up an area such as a mobile garrion or mobile siege.

Flood would stillbe a great add on.

A different leader for each faction would be cool also that has unique traits and powers.

Did you ever play Command and Conquer? It would be interesting if one of the wheeled building you could build was some sort of super weapon that costs a lot and will basically act as a nuke. For the Covenant, it could be an ultra powerful glassing beam. And for the UNSC it could be a nuke.

I like what you've done so far and thank you so much for continuing to update this. The more creativity, the better. Balance will come over time but adding more elements makes this game fresh and still a hell of a lot of fun!!!

Wondering also how difficult it would be to add maps. If it's too difficult, no biggie, but it would be nice to have some more 3v3 maps especially.

Whatever works for you though. You've done a lot already. Much appreciated again and I'll add more of my thoughts if I get them.

Oh one thing I meant to add in my previous post is that for me, the AI on no matter what level for ally UNSC would basically never build turrets. They also will hoard resources sometimes and not build enough units early. Minor criticisms I will keep an eye on and let you know how it plays. So excited to try this new update!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No worries man! I just check this page now and again. I would have commented sooner but I've been getting things in order for this corona virus outbreak in case it gets worse...

Anyway, I read your reply and just wanted to say first: Thank again for making this!!!!

Now, onto suggestions...

The units I find "worthless" or not as useful are pretty much the AA wraith since I find it pretty much gets murdered by vultures, like practically all units lol. Vultures are just a little too OP against their counters in my opinion. You pretty much need a leader to bring them down and I think AA wraiths should be better against them.

I also find the alternate spartans/elites to be pretty unuseful also and usually just build 3 of the best for 350 a pop. The other two at 250 and 200 are awesome ideas but performance wise they seem pretty useless compared to the main ones at 350. In other words, having one of the 350 guys at 10 pop is better than 3 of the 200 guys at 9 pop. So for almost twice the resources, you're not better off with three lesser spartans/elites compared to the main ones. So I love the idea but just have found no use for the other types.

Other than that, most units are similar to what was in the game originally. I definitely wish there were some more units for each side, like at least one more of each type. A sniper unit for the infantry unsc would be great. A goliath type unit would be great for the covenant infantry. For vehicles: some sort of deployable siege for the covenant, or just mobile siege, and something like a mobile bunker that's garrisonable for unsc would be cool. Mechs are always a good option for unsc vehicle also. For aircraft: The covenant could use a large ship like those we see in some of the games that has glassing beam capabilities. For Unsc: maybe a super unit like the condor since they don't have a scarab equivalent.

So that's units... I think it would be cool if you added a siege type turret for both factions as well as more turret slots if possible. It would be cool also if some buildings had extra upgrades like the supply having another booster upgrade for example. It would be cool too if there were more upgrades that effected more units. More leaders would be cool. More specialized character would be cool also (like the Arbiter, Hunter Captain, yap yap, etc.).

Adding the flood would be awesome.

More maps would be awesome.

Anything more creative is welcomed by me. More garrisonable structures on maps. Higher unit count. I'm down for anything.

This game has so much potential still and they squandered a lot with halo wars 2.

Adding in some leader powers for the covenant would be cool also but I don't know how difficult that would be to add.

Alright, after playing this mod for a few hours now, I like it overall but have some criticism.

First, this may be more of a problem with the original design but your allies' AI in skirmish is absolutely retarded. They will attack at the worst times, not defend you when you're getting double teamed, and worst of all, they seem to have an allergic reaction to expanding their second base somewhere that isn't in enemy territory.

That's my biggest gripe right now is the AI. I like a lot of the new unit additions but personally find some worthless, for example, the anti-air wraith gets smoked by air from my experience making it worthless from my experience. I've never been able to get the upgrades for it so maybe that is the issue.

Another cool thing I thought of to add is purchasing more turret slots and also having the ability to build a siege turret for UNSC and maybe being able to build a mega turret on one of your main slots for Covenant.

Overall, I still really like this mod and hope you continue to improve upon it. I always liked the original halo wars better than the 2nd and it's nice people are keeping it alive.

Played the newest version of this mod and so far after one skirmish I like it.

I appreciate you making this and it's nice to see somebody still caring about this game.

Have you thought about adding more leaders like the more leaders mod? Especially the flood? For some reason I could never get that mod to work even following the directions but your's works.

I think more leaders and maps (not as important) would be awesome. I'd be fine with more leaders and units. A super unit for the UNSC would be awesome too like a giant Mantis or a Gunship like in Halo Wars 2.

Adding more upgrades too for some units would be great also. For example, a scarab upgrade adding armor would be awesome or other creative ideas.

I'm just very excited to see you doing this because it seems the more leaders mod is dead. I always liked this version better than halo wars 2 and have a lot of fun with the skirmish mode.

Oh! What do you think about adding a higher unit cap? Also, what about adding a command for hold position for units?

I have so many ideas and I hope you continue to improve upon this mod. I know you've done this for free so far but if you had a paypal, I would suggest adding it for donations since your time is valuable.

Thanks again for making this and I hope we get to at least see a Version 3 or 4 by the time you've had enough with Halo Wars ;)

im sure you guys are already planning on this but im a jackass and have to mention it out of my own selfish interests but.... make sure if you can that the enemy ai or just ai in general doesn't build 300 conscription soldiers that just hang out at their base and lag the game into oblivion.

Hey Speeder. Will the new version require me to uninstall 2.0? Just wondering because I might play a different mod for red alert 2 while I wait for 3.0 and I might have to uninstall APYR to play it (just for now though obviously until the amazingly perfect yuri's revenge 3.0 comes out)

I agree but would like to add that the AI will use their superweapon on you even if you haven't attacked them at all and they have been fighting with another AI the whole time... I noticed that when I was playing 2v2v2v2 and some random AI used their nuke from the mars command and I hadn't even SEEN his troops the whole game... In a way it was kind of funny but frustrating also

Thanks man but I don't have any other mods running. The only other mod I had running was black templars but I deleted that, deleted soulstorm, and reinstalled the entire game in order to play UA. I'll fool around with it this weekend but I still can't run the new races. However, the game still is fun even with the old ones updated.

Haha I understand. One weekend I'll try to do this but my luck with stuff like this is never good even when I follow it. Most antivirus software these days allows you to permit whatever you come up with. Still though, I'm sure it would take some time. Thanks anyways.

yes, thanks for trying though. I followed that tutorial step by step and have no luck when i try to run the new races or campaign, it just says "failed to activate" or whatever when using the game manager. I made sure I got that version of tyranid and the right version of everything else. I installed everything in the right order too...

I have everything. It just is not working. I will try what Deuce Savage said but I think I have the patch there already. The only thing that might change it is that I auto installed the tyranid mod 5.2 and it creates it's own folder. I'll try putting it in the soulstorm directory and see if that does it. If not, then I guess I'll wait for some more help.

I installed everything like the tutorial on this site said. I have all the other mods, daemons, tyranids, etc. I will try the patch thing but I'm pretty sure that is how I did it in the first place.

If possible in the future it would be helpful if there was an auto install (like with the grand release 1.7) that installed everything to the correct places to play this mod.

I appreciate the people who actually gave helpful advice or at least tried. Some of you can GFY though. I know pawelpm7 will later in his own *** anyway. Seriously I thought this site wasn't just another youtube comment section but I guess that is what it's becoming.

Having an issue. Have installed everything correctly and extracted the necessary files to the THQ main file for soulstorm but I still can't play the new races. I can however play ultimate apocolypse with just the soulstorm races but no tyranids, daemons, etc.

Any help?

NAVAL UNIT HELP! Please does anyone know of a map where I can build the naval units for the USA or China and the game doesn't glitch and have them spawn on top of the naval station. I'll build the darn naval base right next to the water, facing it to and those gosh diddly darn battleships just get stuck in the place they were manufactured! Any help or suggestions would be great. "Get a life" is not a helpful suggestion...
