Total War is a computer strategy game series developed by The Creative Assembly in Horsham, UK. Its games combine turn-based strategy and resource management, with real-time tactical control of battles. The first game of the series, Shogun: Total War was released in 2000. The most recent major game released was Total War: Attila on 17 February 2015.
The series has also spawned some very popular mods, from Europa Barbarorum and Roma Surrectum, which seek to create a more historically accurate environment, to fantasy interpretations such as Third Age: Total War, based on The Lord of the Rings, and Westeros: Total War, based on A Song of Ice and Fire.
