Caliber does not equal power.

Look at World War 2 for example. Compare two Soviet Anti Tank guns
The ZIS-2 was 57mm caliber while the ZIS-3 was a 76mm caliber

The ZIS-2 was just as effective if not more because it fired at a much higher velocity. To the point that A small number of T-34s were gunned with the 57mm gun and turned into tank killers. this was of course earlier in the war however.
