This group is for everyone who like tanks, sci-fi tanks, real tanks, funny tanks, you can put here tank mods, tank maps, simply everything with straps, armor and gun :D
the best tank in WWII, its cute 75mm cannon could penetrate all common allied tanks, the sherman also had a 75mm cannon so whats the diference? THE BARREL! Its like 200 feets! (it also had a huge propulsion charge for the shells)
but it had less pentration capabiltys then the panthers 75 high velocity cannon, IS3 had a friggin howitzer :p
It couldn't penetrate the panthers frontal armor at ANY range.
No no, it exactly COULD penetrate panthers frontal armor at ANY range, even last versions of T-34 COULD. The caliber of IS-3 cannon was the highest during WW II. But the main disadvantage of IS-3 was low rate of fire: nearly 2-3 shots per minute in IS-3 against 6-7 shots in Tiger. That's why during battles with these 2 monsters victory was always on the side with more experienced tank crews and single and accurate shot from IS-3 always destroyed Tiger.
:O wikipedia is wrong? well, that always happends cause any fool can write there! hate when people refer to wikipedia and say, its a fact, its on wikipedia >_>
Yeah, yeah you can't always be sure in a person which put it there.
That's why if a question is principle I prefer original sources :)

120 mm gun is not a joke, it can penetrate even sloping armor because of heavy weight of shell.
If I may, I'd to add something to this thread. There is another reason that alot of historians overlook as far as penetration by this or that weapon. German tanks were more easily penetrated after 1943 because Germany had lost it's source of molydenum (Norway) a crucial additive to "case" hardened armor. After 1943, only coke and iron ore were used, thus, the German armorplate was more brittle. Just another point to consider. Thanx...
anyone knows qoute "german schteeel" origin :p ???
*hint* its a WWII game
Company of heroes...
is that even german? cuz it looks like the russian WWII t-54.
No, no there is no way it can look like russian ones. Just look at frontal armor and tower form. It is a Tiger.
BTW guys did you know that soviet T-54/55 and (their different modifications) tanks had the thickest none-reactive armor in the world?
it is a tiger!? :S
its a friggin panzerkampfwagen V "Panther" Ausführungen A.
therefore the name of the pic: Panther panzer!
Oops... yeah my misprint. Of course it's a Panther. I've been typing about Tiger upper that's why I accidentally confused these two beasts :)
WRONG this is at least a panther D. panther As front-chassie-MG was different ;)
that is a panther A by the way Moddb.com compare its MG covers
my second WW2 favorite tank!
the first is the tiger
