Actually no the Soviets created their famous T-34s from their older BT series of fast tanks that were licensed built copies of American John Walter Christi's M1928 & or M1934 tank prototypes.
That said Christie was a bastard as he 1st promised to sell the M1928 license to Poland who paid for 2 prototypes in full & then he turned around & sold the tanks to the USSR via Soviet NKVD contacts.
Dont get me wrong its not like they Soviets were intentionally doing this to Poland like a conspiracy & what not. Their objective was to obtain advanced weapons for their budding tank programs. The fact that they got to screw Poland over was just a + for them :/

The T-34 makes it way from Christie's light flying tank which has evolved in Soviet hands first to BT tank, then to BT-SV-2 "Turtle" and finally - to A-20\A-32. Nothing of foreign here except the very start.
