Greetings Troopers!

The First Strike team has decided to continue the mod on the Unreal 4 game engine to develop a free stand-alone Star Wars game -- and the best way to do that is to join forces with the BattleCry team. Both teams are committed to developing a game that fans will love to play. The First Strike team has many maps and models that just need to be ported, while the Battlecry team was already working on basic game play, so it just made sense to work together. We are all excited on the possibilities that we can unleash with this new engine by teaming up together.

Below is a cracking illustration put together by a member of the Battlecry dev team (Jo Greve) to mark this momentous occasion;

With that being said, we have also decided to wrap up development work on BF2142 in order to focus on moving to the new game engine. A final update will be released soon with the singleplayer kits changes. We will also post unfinished work, to include Hoth, and all the developed AI meshes separately in the event that a work around is found for the loss of Master Account Server and someone wants to continue the mod for BF2142.

So this marks the end of an era, and our association with Battlefield 2142, but the start of a brand new and exciting one embracing not only a new engine in Unreal 4, but a new and vital amalgamated team. Exciting times ahead indeed.

See you out there on the battlefield Trooper!

Congradulations on the merge. For the current lower res models, will you guys be releasing them?

Did you have a purpose in mind for the models?

Well my pitch would be to get them for use in the zero engine(Battlefront II). I know of several other modders who would show these models with the respect and security they deserve. If not its perfectly understandable to decline my request. I use to be apart of the Battlecry team as a UI concept artist when they first began. I know they have heart and that both you and your team will do wonderfully with the new direction.

It's great to see you guys expanding the game to a standalone version. I cannot express how excited I am for this. I feel this mod didn't get the attention it deserved due to it requiring 2142, an underappreciated, underplayed game as it is.

Now that you're going to have it standalone, it will make playing with my friends easy, instead of having to buy them 2142, then installing first strike. It makes the process a lot simpler and much more accessible (both to us and a much larger group). If you could ever port it over to steam, I bet you'll get a large following very quickly. There hasn't been a fullblown star wars FPS since republic commando I believe, and BF3 isn't due until 2015ish. But even with BF3, I expect you guys to deliver a unique experience in whatever form you post it in.I have a lot of confidence in you all.

Whatever happens, your detication is commendable and you'll continue to have my support wherever you go. Best of wishes guys! Thanks for the great work! Keep it up!

P.S, how are you guys doing financially? Would a small donation be of some assistance to your development of the game?

Feel free to contact me at jbproverbs3 at gmail.com

Best of wishes
