A place where ModDB members can debate civilly, and learn from each other's views.
I hear many people from both sides of every issue regarding if Israel is the initiator or the defender. Many people blame Gaza for killing Israeli civilians and many people blame Israel for killing civilians in Gaza. There's also controversy over if Israel should invade Iran over supposedly nuclear weapons. I want to hear all of you guys give your opinions, facts, and your reasoning.
Hell is about to break lose over this group...
I was actually pondering over which subject can actually bring some action to this group, and this seemed like the perfect idea :D
Brace yourselves...
Israel
- Aggressive Militant Conservative Government
(Frequently Threatens Preemptive Strikes)
(Persistently Antagonizes HAMAS)
(Occupation of Palestine & opposition to their legitimate recognition)
(Blatant Theft of Palestinian Land)
(Has been involved in several wars just in the past few decades)
- Has a dedicated lobby in the US
(opposes peace)
(antagonizes the US to wage war on their neighbors)
- Bombed Iraq's Nuclear Program
(probably a good thing)
- Military Draft of All Citizens
(Religious Exemptions)
Iran
- Theocratic Democracy
(formed after revolution & removal of CIA supported government)
(draconian Islamic laws)
(hasn't initiated nor provoked a war)
- Mostly Young Population
(Very rebellious, opposes theocracy)
(Significant societal changes likely in the not-so-distant future)
People often tell me Israel keeps proposing peace agreements but the Palestinians reject it and just want to kill all the Jews. I don't even know the terms of the offers Israel gave, I'm hoping you know?
Since when has Israel so much as acknowledged peace beyond voting against it in the UN or with bullets and bombs?
I can never seem to find any news source mentioning anything about Israel's human rights crimes. How do you find your sources?
Well of course you're not going to find anything in the very media that has supported Israel for decades. The whole idea of the media being supportive of Palestine is very new and radical.
The best way to learn about the situation is from history and first-hand accounts. Read a book by Jimmy Carter called "Palestine - Peace not Apartheid". It's awesome.
Here's something I posted on one of Yuri's pages if you're interested: Moddb.com
I wasn't talking about media, just like news sources on the internet like the huffington post. But I'm trying to get a book about the history of the middle east but I needed to wait a while to get some money first. Gonna order it tomorrow.
Here's one: Amnesty.org
Yet another lie. "Oh look, a random image of the ground with wet dirt and a rock thats been heavily cropped so they can't see whats really going on. Its perfect!"
I tried my best to get the least provocative picture on the internet. It seems I've failed...
I was talking about the link posted by rkraptor70. Its not the pic that is "provocative". Its the "news" article showing it and claiming it as proof of something that didn't actually happen.
@ Lt.Dann: Thats because Israel has committed no crimes or human rights violations. All the anti-Israel jargon is made-up bs.
Jews - from historical point of view, those are people who were scattered all over the Europe and Mid East. For their different belief and code they were hated by other population. Since in many countries Jews were not allowed to make on their living by crafting, they usually lived from trades. Traders, bankers, often money-lenders - this is what they became after middleage. Many of them got rich and more hated among population.
It is true that often, when monarch needed gold, they just pillaged some ghetto and stole what jews had. They have been hated all the history, in all countries. Then WW2 came and people realized it. They are people. And after war they wanted to unite somewhere, but where? In the end, they have been given land, where all three religions have holy places. Land which have been already taken at the time. And their population grow.
They deserve their own land, but where should we place it? From Arabic point of view, they stolen their lands, which is true. They have USA support, hi-tech military as well as nuclear arsenal. And they must expand, because of population growth. I am not surprised Iran wants nukes too.
I agree. I suppose the only possible solution besides relocation (which neither party wants) is for them to continue their war until one faction remains standing, a pretty grim scenario but at least the aftermath should result in peace... For some time.
Relocation? Where? Greenland, or middle Australia? Every land is taken, only some places are not populated - by obvious reasons, deserts and polar wastelands.
War is never a solution. Unfortunately, your scenario fits the current situation.
We need space travel fast...
Good luck finding a place to inhabit out there. I hear the nearest habitable planet is only a million life-times away from us!
Time to invent a warp drive...
Aren't we already have started working on that?
Yeah NASA is working on that... And if I was using my computer I would try to find TekSyndicate's link to an article about a progress report on a warp drive. It was in a past "The Tek" it shouldn't be too hard to find. Sorry I can't provide links my iPhone is a dreadful thing to use:(
I'd start on Moon, it should be better than jumping directly into deep space.
Weapons of mass Destruction Incoming.
Israel never should have existed- the formation of the state was illegal. Unfortunately, There are new generations who identify as Israelis- people who lived their entire lives in Israel. Displacing them would be just as bad as the formation of the state in the first place.
Israel would likely have my support if it had more secular imagery and politics, but they don't, and it's nothing but hypocritical for my country to support them. That doesn't mean we should support hamas, it just means we should avoid supporting either faction. It isn't even our business tbh...
where is Yuri, I thought this is his very favorite subject
strange....
is he ok?
Moddb.com
Yuri your ok, I was really worried...
Well he sure took his sweet time.
I'm sometimes exhausted when I come home from work. I sometimes don't even feel like getting on my computer, let alone using the internet I'm so tired. Plus I had to find appropriate material relevant to the topic at hand.
