How horrible. Why anything slavic has to be realated to communism? I find it inappropriate.
Although I am not communist I guess it's because in recent history any union of slavic countries was following communist ideology. Namely:
Yugoslavia
Czechoslovakia
USSR
It's also something that has ALL slavic countries common since as far as I know every slavic country was part of eastern block.
Correction.Yugoslavia was following socialism ;)
Although in the time of WW2 most of our partizans were impressed by communism :)
Yes, as Perun stated, it was our Unity, that's why we're remembering this era of our culture positivly, regardless of the negative things that happened back then.
We remember - Unity, Equality, Discipline and Healthy Food!
My closer view about Communism in our Lands is stated under the latest communist image - read it there.
To add to it - I know that the way communism was set up in our lands wasn't all that great, but we tryed it.
The pure idea of communism is a good one, the problem is - you have to find honest & moral people for that system to really work.
The people that quickly discard Communism and label it horrible or worse are usually people who are affected by the western propaganda about how the Capitalism is what everyone needs, because it offers "freedom", "justice" and "human rights". My friend, I could write pages about their freedom, justice and human rights.
To conclude, I tend to favour Socialism before Communism. JugoSlavia was a great example of Socialism, until nacionalizm killed it. Scandinavien Lands are doing just fine with their version of Socialism.
