Heaven forbid we tell people the truth about the Torah and other instructions God gave everybody just because certain people think certain rules are done away with. Yes, please, get the scripture right.

I get the point of the video though. Don't talk to them about these things until both of you are ready to journey deeper into God's word.

Hi yuribeat5, I'm very happy that you liked the video!

But as to your first comment, I have my own two cents to add to the equation. As you most likely know, God gave Moses the words of the Torah, which were then taught to the Jewish people. But some fundamentalist Christians don't believe that any of this has been replaced.

Here is a verse from Deuteronomy:

"Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the ***** in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you."
- Deuteronomy 22:21

Here is something that Jesus said:

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."
- John 13:34

Interestingly, these two verses seem to contradict each other. How could stoning a prostitute be an act of love? The answer is actually quite simple. If two things in the Bible seem to contradict each other, we must believe the most recent source. If Jesus is making a statement that contradicts the Torah, we are under a moral obligation to believe what he says. That doesn't mean that the Torah was bad, it just means that God has given us a more relevant moral code.

I'll try to give an example. Let's say that you're growing a tree, but the tree gets damaged in a storm. You need to find some way to fix this problem, or you'll end up with a crooked tree. So, you decide to attach some retaining rods to the tree to hold it in an upright position. If you don't keep these rods attached to the tree long enough, the tree will bend over again. If you keep them attached for TOO long, the tree will become entirely dependent on those rods to support it. Any movement of these rods will cause the the entire tree to collapse.

You can liken the Old Torah to the retaining rods. They were necessary to support the Israelites until Christ's birth. They were what held the Jewish people together until the dawn of Christianity. If God made his children bear these laws any longer, it would have caused more harm than good. Many of the Old Torah's laws are still relevant. Murder, theft, and disregard of one's parents are not acts of love or kindness; therefore, they are not condoned by the laws of the New Testament.

And yes, I know that I can be very long-winded, :D.
