Yep, it's a FPS in the Tiberium universe.
I can tell because it's so colorless and dreary. Even CNC1 looks like it was made of nothing but dirt and crap. Even EA couldn't salvage it's drab color scheme.
Now now, not every game needs to be bright and colourful. I know it's an overused trope of "modern" warfare games, but sometimes that's the way that things are. It just evokes a certain part of post-apocalyptic dread and contrasts the real world so much, that you feel that something is wrong - and thus in-line with the game.

can you not talk negative opinions about CNC stuff for once?
do you hate EA that much? sure they ruined the CNC series with RA3 and CNC4 but this didn't. think of it as the halo series (which apparently is still alive and kickin unlike CNC). halo was supposed to be a full blooded FPS game yet after the release of halo 3 ODST, MS studios gave us HALO WARS, an RTS halo. the same is true with tiberium. a full blooded RTS game but was made an FPS game for a change pace.

How did RA3 "ruin" C&C? It's a great game, was actually balanced, received excellent post-release support, it was fun, it was different, it was campy, it was Red Alert through and through. It has an active playerbase and modding community (of which I am a part, as Head FX Coder for Red Alert 3 Paradox). It is a genuinely fun game and I have to say that EA did a good job with producing it.
well, RA3 did have all the core elements of a CNC game.. but it's one of those stuff that would come from cartoon network or something. too colorful, too bright, something a CNC game wouldn't be.

********. If people would actually bother to look at Red Alert 2, they would notice that Red Alert 3 is LESS colourful and has realistic colours. Except the case where you live in a concrete jungle, I suggested you look out of the window and see that the world is COLOURFUL. The only compaint I have about Red Alert 3's graphics is the often overused bloom but that is simply a bad trend of the current times.

RA3 is ok, only some units design makes it not so good..
CnC 3, Generals - best their cnc games, nothing more.
And in what westwood overrated? In making it better than EA?
I saw many comparisons and played in all those games, it true...
And original mostly better then next games, especially after lose/change of developers...

I played the original four games in the same time period. All four had serious flaws compared to other games of the time, and worse were pretty much the same game over and over. EA changed things up and made unique experiences. If you stripped away all the nostalgic wankery, you'd agree with me.

i agree they are overrated. i actually quite like EA. but i seriously don't love them.
PsychoticLoner, I know you're trying to tell us that Westwood also had their flaws (such as TS being boring and YR being unbalanced) and EA ain't that bad. I and possibly a good number of us understand and respect that. But please quit with the bashing. It looks like you're trying to herp so much you derped.
and besides bright and colorful games can burn your eyes off (case in point: red alert 3 is a bright and colorful game that might just burn your whole eyeball off).

Dont come with the real is brown crap please. Real is brown is over done. Red Alert 3 did a great job in showing graphics that are colourful and realistic. If you cant stand the colours, I suggest you adjust your monitor.
LoL, while agreeing real isn't brown. Red Aler 3 on the other hand had overly colourfull Unrealistic graphics. That doesn't mean I don't like it, it just means lol heck no the world outside my window does not look like RA3.

I hate how some people like you just look at the only surface of the game, not the true depth.
SorataZ is right, Ra3 does look like Ra2 except in 3D, because it is in 3D the graphics look more realistic and that's what probably makes you think its cartoony.
EA actually knew that the RA universe is suppose to be not serious so they changed the CnC 3 shader, otherwise they could have just kept the shader that they had in the early RA3 beta. They had a reason and people like you won't understand that.
After all any game could be cartoony, if you look closely most of the war games have this, cloudy, dark, cold atmosphere which makes it look non cartoonish and more serious. Ra3 can be like that but in the RA universe war isn't like that.

You want a non cartoony game? go play Tiberium wars or Company of Heroes and stop complaining ****.

Granyte is right, RA 1 was serious at some point, WW knew how to combine seriousness with some jokes to make a good atmosphere. But RA3 is purelly a joke, there is nothing serious in it, EA exagered, maybe if some of the models weren't so ridiculous like the bullfrog or the soviet engeneer, the game would look much better.
Now C&C4TT, there is no excuse for that, its the worst RTS i ever played in my life and i already played other ****** RTS.
