Man I kind of wish the suits in STALKER were based on real armor. If the game were made today, I imagine we'd be seeing Military Stalkers wearing 6B23 armor in Flora camo with ceramic plates. **** is cool, real body armor always looks better to me than the stuff STALKER dreams up.

They don't look too sci-fi to me but you're right. It would be a lot better with suits that exist in real life just for the immersion.

Should be more of a mix imo, because look at the Sunrise Suit (first choice for every neutral STALKER because of it's ability to be customized), it's very improvised, while Military suits should be real-life. There should be many self-made armors in the zone using parts of real-life armors, saves money and if you know what you're doing you get a maximum of protection.

Self-made armor is going to be made out of discarded steel/kevlar/ceramic plates and pieces of discarded body armor, maybe sewn together. The sunrise suit isn't actually a practical option (if you've seen the real-life versions you'd see this, all those extra layers of fabric do nothing except make the suit hot).

I don't know, this is all my opinion. I really dislike looking at suits like the PSZ-9/Guardian of Freedom, that either look really strange (what's with the red triangles on the chest area) or extremely bulky (Berrill suit looks horribly bulky and doesn't provide any lower torso protection). Freedom ought to be using surplus German/Polish/American/etc. body armor (Interceptor armor was actually recently shipped in quantity to the Ukrainian Army), and Duty ought to be using surplus/stolen Ukrainian/Russian armor, maybe they get some from Russian dealers or what have you.

Come to think of it, Clear Sky's armored suits were actually rather practical and believable, at least as far as I'm concerned. In particular the prototype CS-1 suit looked great, Clear Sky would have been the greatest faction as far as equipment if they hadn't all been given that awful white-and-blue camo.

None of it's going to happen, though. Not enough modders are really interested in economic/military accuracy. It's fun to think about, however.

I think SKAT-9 and it's derivateves look awesome, military stalkers look like modern gladiators lol, and considering it's a suit designed for operating in anomalous area I'm okay with it being all made up. Still would be cool if we had realistic uniforms for standard grunts, while retaining the elite suits for Spetsnaz and military stalkers.
And about Clear Sky, yes, the look very good, and I kinda like their completely useless camo scheme

Iv looked around a bit and found out that most of the light stalker armor are baased and inspired from MC motorbikers outfits. From boots to leather jackets and pants. But the reality stuff such as bulletproof vests are real. NOT ALLL OF THEM OFCOURSE but some are. I figured out military grunts armor, that is one the wierdest light armors iv ever seen. Found most of the stuff in Russian military outfits store on the net called Red Star.

Description

Military stalkers are actually elite mercenaries for Spetsnaz, Ukrainian Special Purpose Regiments - elite Special Forces units that are deployed into The Zone in order to conduct rescue operations, surgical strikes, and other special assignments for the Ukrainian State Security Service. They almost never cooperate with other stalkers unless they are in dire situation themselves and in most cases only thing you will get from them is a bullet to your head.
