That tileset looks great. Is warcry a new spell or a unit ability?

That is Extorias' new cave and warcry is the warlord's unit ability, now visually improved.

For those who are new to The Protectors, the Warcry spell increases the speed of nearby friendly units. (It also plays a really cool sound when activated!)

The resource display? It is awesome :)

An off-topic question: is WBC3 hard to mod in comparison to other games like RA2? Also, is it impossible to create new models for units and buildings?

And there is something more...

It is not impossible to create new models, the issue is that someone must design several frames and most importantly: they must perfectly fit the game (that is why some of the new warlords BC series use old units’ models already, such as dwarf crossbow-runelord; sorcerer-summoner and so on).

Adding new content is kind of easy - just time consuming and requires a lot of trial and error to ensure everything matches up. The Protectors, Ahatch's 1.035 and 1.03b mods all support extra units/buildings, allowing the end user to add in their own units/buildings without the need for the source code (which would require signing an NDA for). Take a look at the Barbarian Warlord to get an understanding how units are used. There is a unit editor out there for modifying stats and XCR editors for browsing WBC3's main files where such content is kept. And by using a Hex editor you can tinker with some minor details, like how the unit's image is drawn on screen. (There is also an XCR editor out there that has a built in Hex editor) Although, you won't be able to set any special abilities to such new content without the source.

Modifying the workings of the game is far more trickier due to the source being a mess (so I've been told from those who have worked with it). Many features are split across the whole source, so there's never really one place to modify to get something changed and you have to go hunting down to find the other half of the code. In addition, any slight modification can easily bring the game crashing down!

Not to mention the sheer amount of material that can only be modified or created in the source.
