The Good Life, the tropical paradise simulation is a free roaming simulation set in a visually stunning 3D tropical environment. Play an intriguing combination of gameplay styles; part ship simulation, part time-management, part tycoon and 100% fun. A villa ashore, your own yacht, a stunning sunset, sandy beaches and see-through waters. Live the life you always dreamed of on your way to becoming the area's top dog.

  • A sandbox game that allows players to explore an open ended world environment independently from the game's main objectives
  • Combines boat simulation, time management and tycoon-style of selling/buying
    goods.
  • The provided tropical environment is a fictitious island complex with luxurious hotels, villas, bars or even ancient tourist attractions - just about everything you'd expect to see in a luxury vacation destination.
  • The game features an ultra realistic tropical water / ocean. Your view of the world can be from over-water as well as underwater.
  • The game offers emergent gameplay; by allowing you to deal with tourists and buy/sell properties in ports, it gives you the chance to not only interact with the game world, but to alter and influence it as well.
  • Unlockables: select among 6 boat types (taxi boat, sailboats, speedboats or yachts) that are unlocked as the game progresses, each one with its own strengths and weaknesses.
  • Realistic docking simulation based on physics is a technique that must be mastered in the game.
  • Realistic weather conditions and 24hr time of day zone.
  • Bonus missions: To enhance gameplay experience, bonus missions include seeking of
treasures underwater, rescuing swimmers, pirate attacks, photo safaris, boat chases etc. There are 5-6 in-game missions with increased variety that the player must complete successfully to gain the maximum amount of money.
  • Rated: Everyone. Suitable for all ages, men or women.

The Good Life is an intriguing combination of gameplay styles; part ship simulation, part time-management, part tycoon and 100% fun. Live the life you always dreamed of on your way to becoming the area top dog in this tropical free roaming game.

The story:

Like so many, Derek Hales is fed up and is dreaming about ditching the nine-to-five lifestyle. When he learns that his late uncle made him the sole heir of Carpe Diem Boats, a boating company on the tropical complex of the Jo Jo islands, he does not hesitate for a second. A new life awaits ! After a long voyage, he and his striking girlfriend Michelle Joyce finally arrive at their destination, enjoying the beautiful sunrise, with a Boating Company of their own. Compared to the dull office life, this new life looks much better. Finally but suddenly, life is good !

Hi, just saw this game, have a few questions if you don't mind:

1. xbox controller support?
2. average game length?
3. any replay value? (e.g. randomisation, new game + etc)
4. are there any timed gameplay elements (i.e. you have 3 minutes to complete xyz), or can you take your time with it?
5. max resolution it runs at? windowed mode?

Thanks,
D

Hi,

1. not yet, planning to.
2. endless game, like in Monopoly. In the add-on we'll provide in a couple of months, there will be an ending to the game when you manage to bankrupt all your NPC opponents.
3. Randomisation is used in every aspect of the game (missions, tycoon elements, game props & pop ups, port life, NPC achievements, etc). You never get to play the same game again.
4. Yes. You have x minutes to complete a tourist mission.
5. Gets max resolution from windows settings. Has a windowed mode too.

Hope this helps! Cheers.

Without anything happening on the island it's not interesting to me. Dead Island without Zombies would be as boring as this.

I'd like to see a demo as well, or at least a gameplay video. For guys like me, $20 is an investment.

Thank you for the nice words, Carlos!

We worked on this for 2,5 years, in part-time mode though as we're both parents and also have our day-jobs. Having people like you saying nice words about the game, makes this effort really worthwhile!
