Sands of Myth is a stand-alone game currently in development. Work is concentrating on a two level demo.

The completed game will be around 10-12 levels and have a playing time of 1-2 hours depending on player skill and how much you explore.

Story
You play as a young woman in ancient Egypt. A curse of the Gods has made your entire family sick and they will all soon die. To prevent this you must travel to the grave of an old Pharaoh where you must find a mythical artefact that is said to cure all who touches it. You know the grave will be guarded but you can't possibly imagine by what...

Technology
The game is made with FPSC + Project Blue mod which ensures a solid framerate.

It has been some time since the last update to Sands of Myth so I thought a nice little video trailer and a new demo release would be the right thing to do.

Since the last update I have gotten rid of the rather comical jumping sound. Anyone who tried the old demos would know that it sounded a little too sexual. Instead I have inserted a placeholder jumping sound that won't cause any parents or partners to look you nervously over your shoulder when you jump in the game.

Jumping sounds are not the big update however. The latest demo introduces music to the game and I am very happy with the results so far. It has been quite a struggle to get the game engine doing what it should do but at least I am satisfied.

Right now I am - finally - working on the story in the game. My thoughts are that papyrus scrolls scattered throughout the levels will provide explorers with the background information. Anyone who just wants to go hunting should not be bothered too much with it.

I hope you enjoy what you see and you share your thoughts in a comment.

Perhaps I was not clear in my description. The sound which I meant was the sound which the girl made when she jumped. The placeholder sound was heard when she jumped up, but the original sound was heard as she came back down.

Ah, the wife with the knife; cat fight at the OK Corral / Tomb....

Scurvy_Lobster:

1. The "cushy" sound can still be heard when you land on the ground after jumping.

2. Could you give us a text file explaining the game commands?

3. I can account for the male guards at the tomb site; the Medjai were employed as guards for the Valley of the Kings, but what in the world is a girl doing there?!

1. I'm not sure which sound you are thinking of.

2. Standard FPS controls are available. WASD + mouse. Nothing fancy.

3. Guards have wives :) Wives have knives :) I am not aiming for historical accuracy in the game.
