The fight for survival is on! OverDose is a class, team & objective based multiplayer game set on a post-apocalyptic Earth. With gameplay in the tradition of classic games such as Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Enemy Territory, melded with up to date gameplay mechanics and movement, OverDose is a unique blend of online action, team play and of course, lots of gore. Using id tech 2 as a base, OverDose features updated engine features like full real time lighting and shadow mapping, physically based rendering, particle and physics simulations and more. Plus, in classic id Software tradition, our engine and game are fully moddable and scriptable, meaning even amateur mod makers can bring their own creations to life with ease. This isn't war... It's an all out apocalypse!
More testing with the automated foliage placement system:
Wow. Look very nice.
Very impressive!
Phallus rock? Nice screenie though ;)
brown is real, eh? or more like yellow.
While I like all your assets and the engine upgrades you made, I totally can't understand the decision to reduce the color range to a minimum and tinting everything yellow/brownish
All the same, I hope they don't address the criticism by making everything blue.
Trust me, I hear you. People want to see the art, not see it get ruined by post process.
The general feeling in the team is that outside, it really will be washed out like this, because it gives that really warm, burnt, post apoc look. Inside it will be much less severe.
I say to balance it out, you should make the ruins of society very colorful. Burnt is nice, but burn every color of the rainbow!
Automated? How does it work, Mr. Gavavva?
Automated foliage placement? In that case it looks pretty good.
Folaige for terrain is created using scripts and foliage alpha masks, so its automated but you have some control over it.
Can't quite tell from the picture, are you gonna have crysis-style 2d foliage comprised of several flat pieces or is your foliage actual 3d foliage?
Its 3d foliage, but made with planes, lol. So it doesn't auto sprite ala Rage, its made of low poly geo.
