Natural Selection 2 is the sequel to the popular Half-Life mod Natural Selection. It is built on our own engine and will be distributed through Valve's Steam platform.
Definately not Halo... Quake 4, maybe. Not Halo, no. If you would like, I can list off differances, but I may take up your precious time and maybe bust the character limit.
I agree with stealth, this and the alien mouth view shot look not exactly ingame. If it is great, just saying the perspective the shots are taken at doesn't really add up. I would say it looks more like concept art.
Whether they just lined up the assets for the shots or were actually playing at the time is unknown. Either-way it is too early in development to determine whether it accurately/completely represents the final game play.
Lighting is spot-on, everything is looking crisp and defined with all round excellent modelling and texturing -- especially on the rifle and first-person hands. Can't wait to see more.
I don't care for the look of the guns, looks too boxie, kind of like those old, it lacks realism on the design, kind of like very good looking tissue boxes glued together~
Well see, you're not from the same future the game postulates. 30 years ago, no one foresaw MOLLE equipment or modular P-rail systems. So... does it really matter? Besides, the dimensions look just about the same as any other current generation assault rifle, first-person view just blows things up.
Very Cool! is this your own engine? looks fantastic!
Yep it's their own 'Spark' engine, apparently created by just 1 guy called Max.
Thats just.. incredibly amazing!
You can say that again. Can't wait for more on this, I like the whole Space Marines style backdrop to it. Some good ol' alien blasting.
more like a tyranid and guardsmen thing... assuming u meant like for the emperor space marines...
FOR THE EMPEROR!
Death to the false emperor, let the galaxy burn!
I'm thinking more Colonial Space Marines :)
Looking great UW
that too :D
One guy!?
How does that even happen
Spark engine..
I just read through what its features are, let me tell you one thing:
Huge Epicness is its major feature!!!
Great Lighting !!
I looooooooove this so much.
Soooo sexy and well done!
This is where an A+ is undergraded.
Great work lads!
(buried)
Emm is it only me, who thinks that this looks nearly exactly like Halo???? The Gun! The Armor! But still AWESOME.
no, halo is gay compared to this.
Only thing what reminds me about Halo are those shoulder pads(on Hayabusa Armor), but not anything else.
if you think this is halo, then you don't know what halo is, man.
Heh, Halo's probably based off Natural Selection, not the other way around.
Eh... what?
Halo was in production before Half life even came out, much less NS.
Definately not Halo... Quake 4, maybe. Not Halo, no. If you would like, I can list off differances, but I may take up your precious time and maybe bust the character limit.
It doesn't look ANYTHING like halo...you are allowed your views in America, just as you are allowed to be retarded...which you obviously are.
I'm having flashbacks to Doom 3 and Quake 4. Awesome!
Yeah I can see that, difference being that this engine was made by 1 guy in a small team of devs with a relatively tiny budget.
Things are looking good for PC gaming and independent studios.
Damn sexy. And no, this doesn't look like Halo. Go sit in the corner. :I
In the corner with a dunce hat...
this looks good:)
This reminds me somewhat of Alien the movie.
lol for asking which Alien movie or is that the name?
Imdb.com
Anyone who has played NS1 or plans to play NS2 needs to see that movie.
"GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER!!!" isn't that what bill paxton says in the movie?
Alien (1) or Aliens (2)?
I'd say Aliens because of the Marines and the refinery setting.
There's obvious inspirations like the sentry turrets, infestation and eggs under the hive.
Which is a good thing because Aliens is an awesome movie.
I thought this was concept art.. xD
looks TOTALLY AWESOME
it does look like quake, and for some reason I dont think this is a real FP screenshot, the gun isnt centered correctly :\
You could say just about any sci-fi shooter looks like quake/doom, they're the pioneers of the genre.
It's a pre-alpha screen shot, which means it could look quite different by the time it is released.
Regardless of how the gun is positioned (also notice no HUD whatsoever), it is a real in game shot.
The teaser video is also in the game engine (not CGI), however it is not real game play it is edited in their custom cinematic tools.

Except development has moved way beyond 'concept art' phase. These are ingame assets rendered ingame, whether or not it is GAMEPLAY is another matter.
Whether they just lined up the assets for the shots or were actually playing at the time is unknown. Either-way it is too early in development to determine whether it accurately/completely represents the final game play.
The exact first person perspectives are subject to change as it's not even at Alpha stage.
You should look at some of the real concept art then compare, you'll realize what is in game and what is a drawing: Naturalselection2.com

Did you know it's a science-fiction shooter?
If you want 'realism' you're looking at the wrong genre.
Regardless of how practical the design might be if we were actually in space fighting aliens, they look great to me.
BTW, Tissue boxes? WTF mate?
I'm saying the guns don't look that great, they appear to have an overall boxy design approach giving them a very "clunky" fell to them.
And I KNOW its a sci-fi, I used to play the original...

Oh wow! This is looking wonderful :)
It looks simply photo - realistic, in an awesome sci-fi movie like way; incredibly - and buying before reviews come out.
I'm liking the new LMG, much mroe stylish, and those yellow and clearly visible skulk's eyes really make them terrifying.
Ohhh ****, the skulks can climb on ceilings now?
Engine looks way better than source. you guys could get commercial success, and then make NS3. lol
