The second thing could be lighting, or a horizon, because you can usualy see when new chunks are generated, but now its so even and nice...

Oh my god you might be right. It looks a bit more dull than the regular sand, but it'd be easy to spot from up close.

iSleeezy Sep 2 2011, 9:46pm replied:

The sand at the bottom left is the old sand, and all around is the new sand texture. Compare what the sand looks like now and look at the sand in this picture.

NyangenRound Sep 2 2011, 11:54pm replied:

no, that's just a normal sand block that's higher and closer to the camera, it's an optical illusion cause it lines up with the bottom side of the chest.

i think i found the second thing! the three cacti above the chest, 2 2-tall, 1 3-tall in between, behind the 3-tall there appears to be something brown that is definitely not a shrub.

Warner Sep 2 2011, 7:49pm replied:

Kind of looks like a chest with eyes, judging by the three or so pixels I can see. Mimic perhaps?

Finally someone that makes sense. See it's always been like this: Notch posts a new picture about something, that picture usually includes a new hint. For example: When notch posted a picture of the endermen, you could see a zombie with arrows stuck in it, which means that arrows will now stick. And when he posted a picture with an NPC village, you could see a giant mushroom. So you tell me maybe there's 3 nw thing which is why the "Two" in the title is quoted. Then again I might be wrong.

is it possible to make it so you can see all the items in the chest as if they were dropped but you cant pick them up and the gui opens like
2 seconds after you open it?

I though it was the chest animation and the new desert biome, you know, like how there will be meanders and other rives...

Did I win?

When I looked at this screenshot in the Minecraft forum - the sand looks a bit like those wooden/stone pressure plates given that it seems to be one unit high. So... sand pressure plates?

Otter. Sep 3 2011, 10:52am replied:

Even in an computer game that sounds idiotic. Sand pressure plate, really?
Like if that's the most important update they want to show us.

neronix17 Sep 3 2011, 11:56am replied:

Why so critical? like it would be hard in real life to make a pressure plate covered in sand? There is nothing idiotic about it other than you being a total **** about it. +1 to one of only 2 or 3 comments for thinking outside the metaphorical box without saying quicksand!

Kedgeree Sep 3 2011, 12:19pm replied:

Ever thought of the fact that a sand pressure plate would be perfect for any desert dungeon traps?
After all, if you're not the most observant person in the world you can easily walk right onto the pressure plates - guaranteed it's the same block that it was placed on like wood-wooden pressure plate/stone-stone pressure plate - and not realise until you hear the following *click*.

neronix17 Sep 3 2011, 2:33pm replied:

In this case the sand in the bottom left is just higher and closer making it look different...would definitely be cool if notch finally took on the mods that have hidden doors/pressure plates though, not like it would kill to do exactly what they did...
