As it's mod season since the release of 1.8, and there are not many mods on ModDB for Minecraft, we at ModDB wanted users to be able to find mods easier for the 1.8 release. So, we wanted to take a moment to spotlight a particular unofficial website for you all, to make finding mods easier. The Minecraft Mod Index.

The index acts as a search engine for the Minecraft forum's released mod section, allowing for users to search, subscribe, add favorites and even email alerts to you if mods update, all without any form of signing up.

The site is full of small features, such as filters for updated mods, filters against ad-fly forced mods, spam reporting functions, ability to search mods based on if they've updated, and more.

The index has been up for a couple of months and is easy to use. It is useful for finding and email-subscribing to mods, and has a joint twitter account which sends out a tweet the instant any mod updates.

We hope this helps with finding mods in future. happy modding!

Why wouldn't you just feel impressed? I'm glad they're really helping out their community. What they really need to do is create a texture pack-esque dock where we can easily access our mods.

And here I thought I'd need to look through that 50 link list of mods. Thanks guys!
However, making it a little more bright would really help.

Wow, that's much better than trying to browse the forums. It's a shame mods don't just list themselves here on moddb.com; it would be much, much better.
