Minecraft Control Interface

Minecraft is a sandbox construction game created by Mojang AB. It's development started around the 10th of May 2009. Pre-orders for the full game started being accepted on the 13th of June, 2009.
Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that happens. It also has music by C418.
I've renamed the old version of the game "Minecraft Classic", and will be slowly phasing it out. I won't remove it, though. Just hide it.
You can read more on the development blog, or here.
Old paid-for versions: Indev | Infdev | Alpha | Beta - All offline permanently
Play Minecraft Classic (Outdated, but free): Single player | Multi player
Old free versions: Single player survival test - offline permanently

Minecraft is a small building game that looks like it will be very boring at first glance. You look, and you see blocks, you see animals and you see people building dirt houses. Without knowing the mechanics, it cannot be understood. However, once you play, you can suddenly see why people enjoy the game. Minecraft is portrayed as a building game. You put blocks down and build things, which is reflected in the only easily accessible free version. Minecraft is NOT simply a block building game. It…

Has anyone noticed that a bug in the latest snapshot when you fight a mob (Skelly, spider, etc) and during the smacking you lose your item you were smacking it with?
I find it funny how Minecraft, a game running on Java, can support a hundred player multiplayer while high end gaming engine can only support up to 24 player multiplayer
Most game developers limit it so that the maps for games aren't completely full of people, the size of the map depends on the amount of players. That, and hundreds/thousands of players can cause LOTS of lag, so it also helps reduce lag.
What about minecraft, why can't it run a hundred player server?
...what? lol you just said it could, now you're saying it can't? (even though it can). Anyway, basically what I was saying is, lots of developers limit it mainly because of map sizes. An example would be call of duty. You wouldn't want 1,000 players on maps of that size, but Minecraft having basically an endless map, can easily support 1,000 or more players, if you got a good enough server with enough ram and a good processor.
Typo, I mean can
i have seen a server with up to 3000 players on :D
