Men of War takes place in Europe and North Africa during the height of World War II. The story takes place over three different campaigns and players take on the role of Soviet, Allied and German soldiers. Each campaign has its own scenario and structured timeline, which brings different elements of the war to life.

Post news Report RSS GEM 2 Engine - Fauna pack and animal code

Here you have a fauna pack put together by SullenMan1 and published on his Vk page of Dark Sintera; I also leave here the link to the old animal code by Best Way that for some reason cannot be loaded from the web right now.

FAUNA PACK BY SullenMan1:

CONTENT:

Samples to understand how to set up fauna/animal models for the game; complete with animations and properties in the basis.

You have:

A cat
A boar
(a human model too and the same dog contained in Vora_bat's example pack Moddb.com)

HOW TO USE:

Load the models in 3ds Max and then use your brain to create your own units.

All credit goes to SullenMan1 for this, I'm just sharing his work so that more people can learn.

ANIMAL CODE FROM BEST WAY'S FORUMS:

I can't load the original page anymore so I thought of sharing the content it had, hopefully it'll get back up soon.

CONTENT:

It works as a mod (so activate it), it contains 3 dogs and 1 horse that unfortunately doesn't work if I remember correctly; the important part are the .def files and the .inc codes contained, that will give you a fast way to implement your animals/monsters.

The way of implementing new units works like exporting vehicles, take a look at the bones of the 3ds Max model and then at its .def file.

All the credit for this goes to the Best Way people and I believe Vora from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R mod (not sure tho, can't remember).

If you have questions/doubts ask me and I'll try to answer you even if I'm kinda new to fauna export.

Use your brain? Can you be more specific?

Sure:

load the models you want to export in 3ds Max, then you have to replicate the structure the files I uploaded here have. For fauna it's hard because you have to make your own animations most of the time, in case you can't succesfully import the ones from other games.

For humans it's really easy cause you just have to move a non rigged model on top of one already rigged and transfer its weight, adjust it and then export.

If you're new to this kind of things I suggest starting with humanskins, here's a tutorial: Youtube.com

Once you reach an acceptable level and you learned how it works go ahead and start with tanks, video here: Youtube.com

Sorry, but most tutorials are in russians, you can find some more helpful material on my profile or on the GEM 2 fan club. If you need more help message me. Cheers!

Thank you I know how to export humanskins already but ill check out the tank tutorial. I just wish there were more comprehensive tutorials around. I think your tutorial was the one that taught me to export humanskins and that was great. If there were more in depth tutorials like that around for exporting vehicles and entourage/structures I reckon the modding community here would take off since it does seem to just be confined to russian guys right now
