In 2006 Microsoft released a modified version of the source code along with most game assets (i.e. everything needed to compile the game without networking support and without all the art) under a Shared Source licence in order to demonstrate its XNA Build system. Source is available from Microsoft's downloads site.
Control a company of mercenary MechWarriors in the first two missions of the Carver V Campaign and battle it out with a selection of six different 'Mechs (Fire Ant, Razorback, Bushwacker, UrbanMech, Starslayer, or Hunchback) in the MechCommander 2 Trial Version. Customize your 'Mechs in the fully featured 'Mech Lab and then support them in battle with air strikes, repair vehicles, salvage craft and more as you wage real-time tactical combat across war-torn Carver V.
Oh that will be fun to MOD! I was good at this game. XD
Mechcommander.org
For those who are wondering the full version is on this website, including MC1 and Gold as well. I would suggest it be uploaded to ModDB assuming the license is legal (which I suspect it is since they've had it up for over 6 years now :P)
it is, the source code was released by microsoft so anyone can build the game.
mechcommander.org just gave me an iso. that i cant use! 3 hours wait! and NOTHING!
you need a crack in order to play it, check their forums.
does it require any video card?
