The next installment in the Iron Grip series from ISOTX, makers of Iron Grip: Warlord, Iron Grip: Marauders is a browser game unlike any other. Using the Unity engine, Marauders is a turn-based strategy game where players assume the roles of airship captains able to take advantage of research and engineering to create an entirely unique army to combat enemies with. Choose to fly solo or fight together with other captains in alliances; deploy troops onto a variety of rich maps for fights over wealth and territory; research new technologies to defend or destroy. The options are yours. The fight is yours. And with Iron Grip: Marauders being promised to be free to play for all, the fight is everyone's.

If you can pry your eyes away from E3, you might be interesting in what Iron Grip: Marauders has been up to. Tune into our latest video blog.

I'm happy to bring the next installment of the video blog to ModDB! Episode #2 of The Flagship focuses on the artwork of Iron Grip: Marauders--in specific, the brilliant Peter Johnston who has worked tirelessly to bring to life the Iron Grip world. From soldiers to fearsome monsters, he's drawn quite a bit of it, and he's happy to share his vision for Iron Grip in the past, present, and future.

This is the first half. We will be releasing the other half later this weekend. Be sure to listen to it and let us know what you think about this episode of The Flagship.

MORTT: THE CAVE WORM

Iron Grip scholars have been creating a bestiary of crazy creatures to add depths to our world. We posted this to our site last week, but figured we would share it with ModDB now along with the video blog.

Thus, meet the mortt.

Mortt is not a particularly nice fellow, if you catch my drift.

Mortt is a species of giant caveworms and he is said to inhabit the deep recesses of Atelian and Kathos mountain ranges. Local tales speak of the mortt as "the Cave Serpent or "Mountain Daggermouth," both names appropriated for its hundreds of teeth and tendencies to burrow in dark caves where it then springs onto unsuspecting pray. He's sort of Iron Grip's version of the dragon, if you will. He's rare, and he will be eventually implimented into Iron Grip: Marauders as an environmental threat--but we can't give you too much more details on that just yet.

Iron Grip Bestiary: Mortt

Pretty fearsome, no?

THE BETA SIGN-UPS ARE COMING

To end on another note, I'd like to address a concern about beta. Worry not, we're still planning for an invitational beta to come this July 2010 and then a closed, registered beta to follow. We should have some action on this in the next month, as we're currently discussing the beta phases internally. ModDB users will get priority along with our community users, as always with ISOTX products!

Great designs, really loved the "in action" drawing.
It's a pretty radical change from the viking look to the Russian type of soldier look.

The Mortt looks like it's not really agile, once you can flank it. (Looks like needs a lot of time to do a 180°)

Pretty amazing stuff, good work!

i 8to be honest) don't really like it. It's not the idea, but the the looks of it. Maybe it's because of the big "face" of this thing?

Hmm

Not really sure how the giant worm fits into the steampunk universe of Iron Grip but looks cool none the less

The Mort reminds me of the larva of a dragonfly, which are predatory but live underwater.

Looks like someone slapped a moth, centipede, and angler fish together and enlarged it a few too many times. Interesting concept. :)

Liking the character designs; personally I prefer the more basic/ Russian-looking outfits later in the video, though the earlier designs are still very cool. Maybe you could include both?

I'm still not impressed by the visuals or the game itself, but I think that ultimately boils down to the frightening word "Browser Based". It'll be a pass just like the other games, but I love Isotx's mods.

Just keep working at it, you'll have that blockbuster one day (if this one isn't it!). <3
