Pick up the crowbar of research scientist Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted, its populace dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people, people he cares about, are counting on him.

Idyllic... Love the visual and audial ambience of Lost Coast.
LC will always be the best. Unless Episode 3 has some awesome effects, like reflective ice or a real-time aurora, it'll stay like that.
I disagree, Episode 2 looks the same if not better than LC
Lost Coast was basically just a HDR-technology demo.
But i can tell you, that it's one hell of a technology demo.
It was a tech demo that came out between HL2 and EP1. Bloom and HDR was great, new technology back then.
To be exact, Lost Coast was to be a part of the Highway 17 sequence, but was cut out. It seems to me they had no idea how or where to place the highway.
Well, LC was 2005 and EP2 2007.
But LC was just made so gorgeous to showcase the graphics, like some 2002 HL2-beta-screens that look like retail.
With particles and all the new Orange Box effects, EP2 is definitely looking better than LC.
Tech demos are kinda boring but when you get to shoot combine and take down a gunship tech demos get a lot more fun... ;D
episode twos had some weird thing with it like some of the textures were messed up and stuff like the textures on the guns

The new Orange Box Engine made the game look 1000% better , with new HDR and cubemaps includin Particle systems.
