Yes this is the sequel. This has a new storyline, and is a totally different game. It compliments the storyline of the original ghostship, and once you play this you will be dying to play CDF Ghostship which explains a lot which is missing form this :)

Nice looking game. Congratulations, Shaun. Im glad you decided to do pure tense adventure in space. Not much of them. I like atmosphere and computer voice. It didnt sound like amateur voice acting at all.

Anyway I have one critical comment. I think its not good to state ahead that there are "no enemies". It seems like spoiler for a game about ship infested with aliens. I think that part of the trick (from player's perspective) is the idea "maybe Im not alone". Some enemies still may be there. Player shouldnt feel like its more or less safe there. My idea is like that:
- put there some hints/events on board that suggests that you may be not alone. So player would be restless and would expect some enemy sooner or later (but this potential threat wont be real).
- or put there 1 enemy like in Alien movie (may be even wounded) or few enemies, but keep him/them hidden and let him/them attack player only 1x/few times. Player's goal will be to avoid them, not fight them.
So you could write "no fight sequences" instead of "no enemies". I think that one enemy could be nice addition and mystery to the plot if it wont be overused and overexposed.

Thanks, your worries are not necessary. A lot has changed with aftermath, we have just been very busy and have not publically released any new details. So here is some insider dev news :)

There will be at least 1 live alien onboard the ship. Its random, there may even be a couple. You don't have to kill them, you can just run and avoid them or use parts of the environment to kill them. You can find guns, there are lots about, if you find bigger better guns you have a better chance iof surviving an alien encounter. You will have a partner who is voice acted and is your team mate based aboard your ship. he will give you directions, objectives, info etc and will also add to the story-line and build up the atmosphere. there are many random events so no 2 games will be the same, and if you die, YOU DIE! You get one life, there is not much that can kill you, and kill you in one. But it will add to the atmosphere and add much more replay value to a huge free roaming, random gameplay based game with multiple endings.

CDF Ghostship is more about shooting - doom 3 style, where aftermath is more about survival horror and exploration although there will be a tiny bit of shooting involved.

We will be releasing the official promo Trailer in January (2014) and hope to release at the end of march.

Great news, Shaun! Thanks for comprehensive info. Its better now. You play for your life in a little "game of chess" between you and ship and lurking enemy.

CDF Ghostship - I know, its ok project, but I like more your adventure game.
Looking forward to the trailer.

BTW I have one idea regarding... lets say regarding the ship. Its logical, it fits into your game and at the same time it does a little homage to one famous sci-fi classic. I dont want to spoil it here. I will send you PM if you dont mind.

So what's going on now that XB1 and PS4 aren't getting any Occ Rift support?

MAGStudios Nov 27 2013, 8:41pm replied:

Good question, whats going on? To put it simply the (next generation) consoles are not next generation, just slightly increased specs of their earlier consoles. As well as 4k tvs coming onto the market, the xbox1 and ps4 will not be powerful enough for technology that is available now and will become more widespread over the next few years. If sony and microsoft don't kill off the console market I would be surprised. Mobile phones and tablets are becoming more and more popular and with low specs of these next generation consoles from sony and microsoft the PC market will grow even more over the coming decade.

Aftermath will be released on the xbox1 and ps4, but we can not promise a Oculus Rift enabled version for these formats.
