Very nice, hopefully the background 'stars' don't interfere too much. Much better having a clear 'you', 'enemy' colour thing at the top left and the gamemode bottom left. I presume the far left buttons will have things to do with turn control?

What is the added text? I can read 'Targetting enemy MG' is it saying what the units current 'thoughts' are?

The background is way too bright in these screenshots - we were just testing it out as super-visible and then dialling it down later. We're going to make it much more subdued in general for the final versions.

The far left stuff is actually just a menu template that got jammed permanently on when I took the shot - it's nothing to do with anything really!

Added text: it tells you who the current unit is aiming at, and what advantages and disadvantes it has during the encounter. It'll tell you things like who has the better cover, who was better poised to shoot - that sort of thing. We need to do more work on it - I'll explain more soon.

That's an awesome idea, it will make you understand why, very nice!

Yeah, it hangs around for a while after you make a kill, so you can figure out exactly why you won (or lost)...I really like it.

Will there be an option to turn it off?

I still like it, but it may be in the way in some cases

Yep, I'm sure you'll be able to turn it off.

Just a question/suggestion. I've noticed that as it stands with the red/green team colours it could be quite difficult for some colour blind people to distinguish between the two. Is it possible to customize team colours?

Hi - yep, we're aware of that issue - it's definitely something that we're keeping in mind. I think customisable team colours, which is currently possible though not "exposed to the user", is probably the way forwards on that front.

This is by far the most trippy background fx i've seen so far, especially combined with the new bullet fx! If you guys continue down that way, it will be fun playing the game just for the looks alone :)

The idea about the event summaries sounds really great - they just shouldn't get in the way too much (very short but easy to understand descriptions, and fading out after a few secs).

Hmm, did you consider giving those messages very subtle "windows"? (just lower BG luminance, and a very thin frame).

Hey Lyx!

Glad you like the backgrounds - we're still trying to figure out the right brightness / contract balance with those to avoid making the playfield to busy with unnecessary stuff - just something we have to keep working on.

The event summaries are cool. We haven't really started working on making them look good yet (teletype-effect aside). I'm loath to put windows behind them initially (even very transparent ones) - we're going to start with having them in a good font with glow and very slowly fading out, but we'll see about that when we've taken a look at what that's like.

So much going on in this image it's ridiculous - we're working on cleaning up and paring down, but I think it shows off some stuff that's currently in progress.

The text next to the units (this will look better eventually) is a new thing telling you EXACTLY why you won or lost a firefight. This is pretty important and I like the effect.
