Alma is the anchor for the game's universe. With a lot of horror sequels, the audience tends to come back for the monsters, not the heroes. I think the first game set up a very interesting premise for the next installment by raising the stakes and expanding the threat dramatically.
The Game Story
The first game opens with Paxton Fettel taking command of a battalion of Replica Soldiers and storming the Armacham Technology Corporation (ATC) headquarters. Surveillance footage shows Fettel in the act of cannibalizing one of his victims.
The Prehistory
Armacham Technology Corporation (ATC) starts up the Icarus bioengineering program to address long term health consequences of zero gravity environments...

Fuck the haters, this game is actually better than the original in some respects. Sure, the gameplay's been dumbed down a bit, but otherwise it's an improvement. The story's a bit simplistic compared to the original, but that's pretty much because everything in FEAR 1- backstory, main plot and all- was building up to the destruction of the Origin facility; now that that's happened, the shit has hit the fan and things are happening really quickly now, so the story seems kind of rushed at times. Besides, that ending man, holy shit.
It's a great game, and a better sequel than Condemned 2 ever was. Or Blood 2 for that matter!
F.E.A.R 2 is nice game but very creepy.
just bought fear 2 today, and it is pretty wicked.. I loved the first one, and the sequel (in my opinion) actually manages to trump the original.
I bought it for the pc, and I'd say the last thing it is, is a console port gone wrong, as kut2 had suggested. The only real issue I have with it, is that it doesn't have co-op..and THAT in my opinion is the new singleplayer. The technology is there, the user basis is there, it's been tried and tested..and it works.
But apart from the lack of Co-Op, you should give it a try.. if you'd rather play it safe, pick up the demo from steam.. it's worth every single mb of bandwidth and then some!
