Epsylon - The Guardians of Xendron takes the player on a journey to a futuristic world investigating a very special Science-Fiction setup. With a team of rather different characters the player investigates, and if required fights, his way through a large case. How you solve the case is though up to you. Combine the strength of your team members is important as no team member alone can crack the case alone.

Description

first concept of the out-game HUD which goes into
the direction of what is meant for the game. HUDs
in general are completly customizable by the
player using an XML file ( maybe an ingame editor
too, not sure about this one yet ) hence you can
adjust the HUD to match your liking. now one might
ask "wtf is an out-game hud?". in the
game there exist two kinds of HUDs you can use:
the out-game hud and the in-game hud. the out-game
hud is what you see here and is a 2d-layer with
player informations put above the in-game action.
the in-game hud though is something special ( and
i'll try to provide some example soon ) as
that the hud is coming from in the game hence
beeing 3d in nature. if you look at the Image
Gallery you can find some images of in-game
computer screens. the in-game hud works the same
but comes in different shapes: helmet-addon, visor
style and so forth. i hope this is somewhat
clearly explained.

now to the HUD. it will look slightly different
depending on what character you use ( in
particular if that character owns one of the three
augmentation systems present in the game ). the
upper side contains the Use-Mode Display. use
modes describe actions you can pull off on
something you hold in your hand or you are looking
at ( in hand has precedence ). the size varies
depending on the amount of possible actions.
adjoining to the right are the three state icons.
the first is your pose ( stand, crouch, prone,
jump and so forth ). the second is the run-mode (
walk, run, sprint ). the last is the combat-mode (
combat, 'friendly' ;) ). combat mode
simply determines what your keys are doing. if you
are in combat mode your keys map to attack
commands whereas in non-combat mode they map to
interaction commands. the bottom contains your
Quick-Use Belt where you can place items you want
to quickly equip using the number keys. on the
right side is the optional Augmentation Display
which shows your augmentation system and the
installed augmentations.

there are some more display items which are not
yet done and will follow once upon time which are:
a status display of your health ( like the head in
quake3, hence no numbers just a 'visual'
feedback ), stamina/energy display ( not sure yet
if a bar or something else ), troup display (
displays all the characters playable to you and
some infos what they are doing ).
