It's not WW2 this time. It's the futuristic Quake 4 environment. Get ready! As the invasion begins, players choose to battle as one of five unique classes in either the EDF (Earth Defense Force – humans) or the barbaric alien Strogg armies, each augmented with specialist weapons and combat hardware. Troops utilize over 40 conventional and futuristic vehicles, deployable structures, and defense systems like quad-bikes, tanks, and alien walkers for epic ground assaults; or helicopters and anti-gravity ships to lend firepower from the air. Throughout each battle, teams establish bases, deploy defense structures, artillery, radar, and advanced forward-command systems into enemy territory while constructing and demolishing obstacles to speed progress and gain a tactical advantage over the enemy. With realistic dynamic lighting and shadowing from headlights, searchlights and even the moon, battles can be fought during the day or night; while accurate simulation of the atmosphere,...

Still my top game

Class-based team-play first-person shooter with a highly tactical aspect allowing for great squad- or team-based action.
The unique objectives on each map make it interesting and different every time.

Best multiplayer game of its time.

This game is a really great class-based multiplayer shooter and a great installment in the Quake franchise.

Maps are amazingly large (and of course open) and filled with details, you can wander around them either by foot or via multiple vehicles, each side of the conflict having their own machines. You can swim in a boat, drive a humvee, use jetpacks, or even stomp on your enemies inside a gigantic Cyclops mech.

Two factions, the human GDF and the Strogg Invasion Forces, have 5 classes, which have their counterparts on both sides, with simillarily working weapons, but some have their own unique equipment, for example Strogg infiltrators use remotely controlled drones to search for enemies, etc.
Each class has something to do on the battlefield, radio operators and medics are the only 2 classes that do not have their speciffic tasks to accomplish in order to win the game, but they still provide usefull help.

The game feels really great from the very moment the main menu comes out, and I still remember the tension as I was hiding behind rubble to avoid being detected by a hostile aircraft.
There are 12 vast maps to play on, not too much, but they are varied and interesting. I can only complain about that the scenarios you'll play on them aren't that varied, sadly.

Everything in this game is fantastic! The maps are great, there are several objectives to be accomplished in the game, supports voice communication, where 5 classes depending on the situation have different goals, but they serve to help the team on missions, and tells a little story of Quake.

The game has 5 classes with 5 different weapons, the physics of the game is also very good (you carrying a rocket launcher runs less than carrying a knife). The goals must be met quickly and still have achievements and a system of rank within the game itself.

I highly recommend this game!

A sci-fi team-based game, a pure piece of awesomeness. Character classes included as well.

And to think I was very reluctant to buy & try it out...
