Nothing like a big update! I'll start by saying that. It's been a heavy few weeks for the project. Unfortunately most of the effort was concentrated onto the code, adding new features and fixing old ones. All-in-All I added quiet a lot of new stuff, had a little time to included two new obstacles to bump up the difficulty. Please remember to comment or email me about ideas for features or reports of bugs.
Random change of subject! I was recently asked to donate a copy of Eight Days in Convoke to the Third Year Anniversary competition over at www.podcast17.com/third-year/ to which I happily obliged, head over there and have a look at just how much they are giving out to the winner!
Any way back on topic!
It's here, Beta v2.1_00! This is the biggest update since initial release to please remember to update you game on Desura to get all the new awesome-ness... Is that a word? Here comes the list of changes!
- New custom controls (There you go "totheteeth")
- Darker main menu
- New improved logo
- Introduction Video
- An option to turn the intro video off
- A starting loading screen to cut down on some of the in-game variable bugging up the place.
- A window key to switch between Windowed and Full screen
- An unlockable content section with a basic meta game in the works
- Added the Third Day along with new levels.
- More debugging and a great deal of code clean up
- Two new "enemies" (I'll flesh these out next update, but they work and are in-game right now)
- Energy Sphere
Drains the crafts fuel when within close proximity to the emitter. Fuel is precious in Eight Days in Convoke, so this should mix things up a little. One of these in a tunnel will really have you being careful.
- AA Chain Gun
Fires small damage, high calibre rounds that damage the craft. The cannon fires towards the player if within a certain distance. But the bullets themselves can be avoided if the craft is in motion.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish and implement the following features. I promise the next update will be a very level heavy one. These features will be in Beta v3.0_01, which should take less time to complete then it did for beta v2.1_00.
- Static Gate
Barricades that are removed when the craft picks up a ‘key'. The barricade hurts the player on contact much like solid ground does.
- Stun pillar
Horizontally placed electrified poles that damage the craft on contact. The player is able to pass through them but at the cost of taking hull damage.
- More than a handful of levels.
Hey! Let's celebrate with a giveaway, first come first serve! Or should I say first copy and paste first serve. These keys will unlock a full Beta download and all future updates for free! Better use them before someone else does!
Missed the give-way?
