Two years after the incident on Mars, research has resumed, led by Dr. Elizabeth McNeil. Once more, strange occurrences haunt the facility. A search team breaks into a chamber deep within Mars, finding the Artifact — a weapon from Hell that the Ancients sealed away long ago. The lead Marine, upon touching the Artifact, awakens it, the blast wave killing his team and reaching into Hell, alerting the Maledict (Dr. Betruger’s new form). The Maledict sends the three Hunters to retrieve the Artifact. Meanwhile, Hell begins to invade Mars once again.
After playing Doom Eternal I've realised that Doom 3 lacked any ammo management. The pickup items were plentiful, you were full of ammo and never in the need to open lockers, backtrack and having to switch weapons because of being depleted. This mod changes it. Doom 3 Eternal is a very simple balancing mod that tries to bring ammo and armor management closer to Doom Eternal. The changes are following: - max armor is now 50, but armor takes 50% of damage, not 20%; - max ammo capacity for every weapon is only 1 more magazine, except for the pistol, where it is 48 bullets; - every ammo pickup has 2 times less ammo. The game is totally beatable with this much ammo, but it will make you choose your current weapon carefully and master every weapon.
