Hellfire is the first official Diablo add-on. It is based on the original Diablo code and offers two new dungeons, a new character class, new weapons, armor, spells, potions, monsters, quests, and a number of improvements to the standard Diablo interface. Hellfire runs as an enhancement to the original Diablo, and not as a standalone "mission pack." You'll need the Diablo CD to run the new levels, and it enhances single-player mode only. There is talk of a future multiplayer patch, and although multiplayer hack programs exist, officially this is a single player game only. Hellfire improves the existing Diablo levels, while also adding original areas and items. Players can now select the difficulty level for single-player games. In nightmare mode, the creatures gain increased armor class and resistance, as well as three times their normal health plus another 100. Rewards are also increased; you gain 10 times the experience you would normally gain and 10 times the gold. In...

Description

has 5 or 6 original quests! Some without sound, some with sound. You will come across a Soulstone, arcoss Leoric’s Sepulchre where you’ll find the king crucified! I made some very cool monsters (let some Battering Drakes attack you -> FUN, FUN, FUN!). Most of the monsters have been replaced, and some of the Hellfire monsters have been implanted in the original Diablo levels. Spells have also been changed, but I am not going to tell everything. And yes, I have decided not to make it possible to enter any Hellfire level anymore in my mod! I have removed Lester the Farmer, so you can’t get the bomb to blow the Hive! I found the Hellfire levels and monsters unfitting in the Diablo plot (what are Venomtails anyway, stupid things!) Levels such as Hive or Nest aren’t just gothic levels. The Crypt is gothic enough but it hasn't been included yet.

Summary
Those who seek new story, graphics or gameplay mechanics shouldn't play this addon, for there is nothing new to see. New monsters and spells are mixed from resources already present in original game and new quests differs only in presentation while plot is the same. On the other hand, thanks to small changes can players that are already familiar with vanilla Diablo get fresh experience while playing original game.

Versions
1.0 - First and only version published by mod creator T The King.
1.1 - Since Hellforge addon is abandonded by its creator, Mordor published new version with several bug fixes. It can be downloaded here Thehellmod.ucoz.ru

Installation
Install vanilla Hellfire and extract Hellforge files into Hellfire directory. Hellfire files won't get overwritten. Diablo cd needs to be mounted in order to launch Hellforge. Hellforge won't launch when diabdat.mpq is copied to Hellfire directory and Diablo cd is unmounted.

Difficulty
Strenght of regular enemies is same as in vanilla game. Bosses don't have overpowered attacks from vanilla game and therefore are mostly weaker.

Removed Hive and Crypt levels.
Added Hellfire monsters to base game levels.
Modified creatures. Creatures have different names, attack types and AI.
Modified quests. Some quests have different bosses and lore.
Removed lore tomes.
Hero can no longer wield arms without sufficient skill attributes.

New quests
The Fallen Angel - Gharbad the Weak with different enemy.
Izual - Butcher's chamber with different boss.
Horazon - Leoric's tomb with different boss.
Soulstone - Sky rock with different item.
Leoric's Sepulchre - Chamber of bones with different effect.
Profane Church - Lazarus's chamber with different enemies.

Stability
Addon is unstable and crashes sometimes. It is recommended to save regularly.

Verdict
From mod point of view - really bad.
From refreshing game experience point of view - pretty good.
