My god its beautiful, I am seriously looking forward to this now. What level of customization will the players have over their ships? Also will there be any form of colour\paint scheme customization? This games got my Indie of the year vote now
Thanks, that's very kind of you to vote for us, we appreciate that! Capital ships provide the most customizability of all units/stations in the game. This is where it's at. Once you have build your basic ship from those spine elements you will have a variety of internal sockets for reactors, warp drives, etc and external sockets including turrets(laser, gun, missiles), heavy anti capital ship weapons on the noses and support sockets, which will provide all kinds of different effects like shield buffs or special effects/"spells" etc.
There are also sides which can be added to some spines which add cargo space or hangars.
So will you have limits as to the amount of parts we can place on these Capital ships or will it be completely unmoderated? For example, Having a cap ship that is quite literally a Giant hangar?
The idea is to not have hard limits in regards to how many spine elements you add for instance, but instead to limit it by how much energy your reactors can provide at your current tech level etc.
So, the more spine elements you can put on the more hangars you will be able to put on.
Hangers are also an interesting case, because there will be a carrier ship class, where the core itself is going to be a huge hangar.
Also, this image Optisch-edel.de is probably the best description of how capital ship customization works so far. Support modules are not included in it. They would be the final step, where actually a lot of important decisions are made.
Very cool!
Thanks!
