Description
This file makes Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge work on LAN even if you don't have IPX/SPX installed. IPX/SPX can be installed in XP, but not in Vista. The file is compatible with all versions of windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. The file is already included in my mod, but I'm making it available for all that want network support for the original RA2/YR or other mods. To install this fix, just extract the .zip into your Red Alert 2 or Yuri's Revenge directory.

Thank you for this! I'll keep it in mind if I ever try and set up another lan game for RA2 (tried it once and it didn't work).
I used this last year with PERFECT sucess! in a YP pro to Win7 ultimate network, now it does NOT work in any enviroment!! xp to xp either.
we can type in network LAn to each other & see eah otheres games to join.
BUT it says Versions are incompatable!! I have tried it on 3 different machines!!
note: am seeing in skrimish mode that most all games say MISSING':GUI:mode (___varied game names______)

holy crap this actually works, im running windows vista ultimate 32 bit and it works perfectly we were able to get a lan game going rather quickly, i thank who ever did this, also is there one for tiberian sun?
I will check if TS can also read a winsock file. If not, I'll have to come up with something else.

This one also works on Tiberian Sun, just extract it in the main TS folder and it works :D

Be sure to also download Tunngle ( tunngle.net ), a VPN tool for playing LAN games online.
After creating your username, and installing Tunngle, just search for Yuri's Revenge room, and join.

It should be noted the Internet part of RA2/YR i.e. XWIS will not work when this wsock.dll is present, the host will crash to a black screen and players will not connect.
But for virtual LAN's etc its fine.

It keeps crashing for me. It lets me use the network panel sure but when i play online it crashes.

me and my friend tryed but it says its using the same key produktion and its two dirrenft games. its because we both are named 00000000000 as network in ra2
It checks the serial in the Windows registry. You can just change that with regedit. If you google around a bit you should find the exact registry key to change.

can anyone help me I have been trying to play lan with my friend but it keeps saying that [player name] does not have [map name] it was working the day before any help would be appreciated I have tried running the game as administrator on both computers and I have tried using this but nothing works :(
