Blaze is a retro/minimalistic styled sci-fi first person flight/shooter action game. The game can be played almost single handedly with just mouse. It's about shooting a lot of alien things (in semi-randomized missions?). The alien things are trying capture all your base, and have already captured at least half of it. You have to defend the base and capture the alien controlled areas back. Or something like that...
Let's have another wireframed WIP model...
This would be the player character, it's based on the character seen in the Abuse box art/the level intermission pic.
All the stuff make it kinda highpoly. It also splits into pieces, since in Abuse everyone just exploded into pieces when they died. I could also have some generic gore parts that randomly replace these, so it doesn't look so cleanly cut.
I think I won't model the different "leg/powerup" variants. I was thinking player would initially have all the powerups, but instead of unlimited use they will require some energy to function.
Currently 1420 tris. Maybe I could remove some tris...
Note: I may be removing the hip things, and maybe the jetpack thing could be like some air tanks, or some power supply thing for the different special powers.
id say rotate the leg things, i think they look pretty good as thigh armor. jackpack/power supply thing is cool.
also thanks for posting the wireframes =) easier to judge/learn from.
when you model something do you just use as many tris as you want then reduce later?
I think I initially make them a bit higher poly, and remove later.. but then later if I add new things into the model, the polycount tends to rise... like this model was based on that earlier model that had about 800 tris, and now it's like double.
And the hip things probably have something to do with flying. So they'll be rotated down when he's just running around. But when he's jumping or flying, then they'll rotate up.
