3. Tactical Battle Tips
By using your troops cleverly you can overcome a numerically superior enemy.
The weapons and morale of
your troops play an important role.
For example:
You have a squad of shooters and halberdiers which are attacked by the enemy.
Place your troops in the
following order: the shooters in front with the halberdiers protecting the
rear.
Select your troops, issue the "Stand Ground" order and select "Disable Attack"
for your shooters. This
will prevent them from unauthorized actions and secure a maximum operational
readiness. Due to the fact
that your units' firing power diminishes with distance, it is important to let
the enemy come closer
before opening fire.
As soon as the enemy comes within the maximum range of your firing power, click
"Enable Attack" for your
shooters, so that they will loose a demoralizing and devastating volley on the
enemy.
It takes time for your shooters to reload their weapons. Thus, your next step
is to have them take cover
behind the halberdiers. Meanwhile, the enemy units standing close to those you
killed are demoralized and
it is likely some will flee. The rest will continue to advance.
While the shooters are reloading, the halberdiers can easily defend themselves
against the uncoordinated
enemy troops, who have already been greatly diminished by your first volley.
Thus, using a simple tactical maneuver you have prevailed over the numerically
superior enemy troops with
as few losses as possible. Another important aspect is that your troops have
gained experience, and will
perform even better in the next battle. This shows how the game morale and
experience system allows a
relatively small force to advance successfully through enemy ranks, all the way
up to the enemy base.
