Whatever happened to the online store? Thread

The moddb version of Direct2Drive was a flop? Or is it just getting recoded?

I used to always use direct 2 drive, I wish you could download more things in life.

Given that it offered nothing you couldn't get elsewhere for a no better price and wasn't even usable by most people, I'm not surprised it flopped.

Well I for one don't see how they could set that up before a merch shop. Distributing online games is great sure, but Direct2Drive versions of games never seem to be patched on a up to date basis and starting it off on moddb was only the beginning of a complaint department.

I just want to know if they're bringing it back, and if moddb got ANYTHING out of it at all.

If I recall, a grand total of four games sold. This is based on my totally unreliable memory, so take it with a grain of salt, but yes, it bombed abysmally.

You mean to tell me the store only sold 4 titles? Did moddb lose anything out of the deal? Did anyone go into the negative or did Scott have to watch some deneros go under? Why was it brought about to begin with before merchandise? And why is it we still don't have a merch store after over 5 years of gaming history?

Destructoid, 1up, Play, and even Penny-Arcade all had merch before the end of their first year.

When do we get OFFICIAL moddb shirts, plushies of teh spanner, and mousepads?

For the record, I would totally buy a spanner plushie.

I've been screaming for ModDB merchandise for ages now, as have others. God only knows if we'll ever get it, but hopefully Scott will notice the positive support he's getting in the "Design a Shirt" thread and marvel as they sell out in seconds--assuming he sells some.

and then we can wear em at egames next year when scott decides to represent... ill be there if he goes next year since we really do need more actual game developers there.. not just PR reps and shoddy merchants.

im thinking about making shirts for my indie firm. it'd be cool to be there in our heraldry glory! me thinks its a great idea.
