Does anyone know of an engine that I can try learning for creating maps for a classic fps game like doom or duke nukem? By the way, I use a Mac Book Pro so it would have to be something compatible.

Both games do have a variety of level editors, but I have doubts that they will run on MacOS. |

There's mac stuff but nobody seems to keep it updated like the Windows counterparts. My solution? Buy a $100 PC from somewhere, doesn't matter what it is as anything from a 386 to now will run Doom & it's editors. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

Thanks for the info. So far I've managed to bump into an engine called Cube? It looks like something I can work with for now. I have an old HP but it overheats quite fast and blows hot hair into my eyes. lol |

You're not looking for an engine. You're looking for a level editor. |

If you're looking for a "classic" engine with an editor you can run use a Quake based game/engine. There's Mac versions of GTKRadiant out there, it covers Quake 1, 2 & 3 and pretty much all the games made with those engines (except HL2 and the most recent CoD's, for the most part) -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |
