ModDB has, I believe, become a sort of "Yellow Pages" for mods.

As I understand it, this has always been the intention of the website: to list each and every mod, with information, resources, links and (now) file hosting. But until just recently I never really saw ModDB pages being used outside of the site. Now, hoewever, I run across them all over the place; they show up on Wikipedia, on other forums, and on other mods' websites. It seems people are now turning to ModDB as an actual source of information regardless of whether they are in the community or not. Mods now provide their contact information, website URL, and link to their ModDB page. So in light of that, I just wanted to say congratulations to the adminsitrative staff on creating what is quickly becoming one of the most important mod resources on the internet!

now all we need is a wiki...

I did suggest a wiki a couple years back, but jacksonj04 turned the idea down as redundant

Well, it kinda is redundant really - and we're the target of a lot of spamtards, fixing up a wiki all the time would be too damned annoying.

If you want modding wiki's there's a good list of wiki's here, from general wiki's with mod entries right through to wiki's dedicated to specific games:

Not sure what the numbers are now, but back at the beginning of the year, Mod Database was getting 45,000 hits a day and had over 80,000 members. XD

I remembered around early 2004, the second time I joined up with Moddb and decided to stick around in the forums, there was literally about, at the most, a dozen people who stayed active in the forums. Now, there's a flood of activity going on, so that's really nice to see. Tons of talent going on here, and even a lot of interest from the gaming industry.

It's a great place to be, surrounded by your peers and people you look up to.

moddb has always been turned to as a source for mod news
hl2files depends on it for its news

I misread that as saying "ModDB has always been turned on as a source mod for news.

There is also a weekly article update written by staff journalists

We have a weekly article? I should ask the content manager about that.
