Unauthorized news "visible" in Firefox | Locked | |

When I view the frontpage on Firefox, all I see is unauthorized news. Can't see the news content when I click to view them, just shows the awaiting authorization page. The authorized news start on the articles page, sometimes the last 2 or 3 are authorized on the frontpage. |

I see the same problem but it seems random. Sometimes there are unauthed news all over the place and the next day there are none. The last couple of days I had no problems but before there had been days where it is here. I doubt it's firefox related. Sounds more like hickups in the server side code. |

That would be odd and it sounds quite serious. If it still persists and you see it happening again, would be useful if you reported it right away. There are numerous updates to the site code recently and perhaps one of those site update deployments broke (or is breaking) viewing perms. |

It's still happening. The news seems to go away when it's auth-state changed somehow. |

That seems very serious indeed. Does it happen on other browsers too? Or is it just Firefox-exclusive issue? |

I did some testing. The problem happens not only in firefox (I tried Konqueror, which is quite simple browser). What does change the behavior though is if you are logged in or not. If I'm logged in I see a whole page of unauthed news. If I'm logged out (as guest) I see only authed news. And I seriously doubt I've been promoted overnight without me knowing it Edited by: Dragonlord |

I noticed it too, since about a week. I use Google Chrome (win7). As stated, I too sometimes see various news in the Homepage which, when I click on them, they say "The news are awaiting authorization". Which is quite annoying. But more importantly, if the news post moves down the list and doesn't reappear on top of it after it's authorized, it is a bad thing for developers since people will miss the update. Lol who needs screenshots, it is clearly explained. Also, does it happen only on Mod DB or is it happening on Indie DB and Slide DB as well? Not sure to what degree DB sites are different code-wise, thinking this info can prove useful too. |

The same happens on IndieDB so I assume it's a site-wide problem. |

Thanks everyone for helping to debug. This should now be resolved, please let me know if you see any unauthorised content now? I've been attempting to open the site up, to encourage and make it easier to post news, downloads and game + mod profiles. In doing so everyone got access to view upcoming content which was incorrect. Next step is to make it so news posts can be timed like downloads now can. -- Scott Reismanis |
